Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaMy cousin and I stayed here for a week because we needed a break. The moon river Homestay was exactly what we needed, it was the perfect distance between beach and town making it easy to have the best of both worlds, beach days and evening activities. Our hosts, Moon and Tri are some of the nicest people I have met, Moon took us out one day to go see a factory store and showed us some awesome street food. We did have some struggles but our hosts were very quick to respond after we talked to them. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone that is traveling and needs a tranquil place to enjoy the amazing Hoi An!

Peaceful, but good access to beach and main town by bicycle. Tri and Moon were very nice, and the pool was great! Bed was comfy.

New ZealandTri & Moon were lovely hosts and were very helpful and accommodating. Tri's breakfasts were delicious and it was to have several options to choose from, so we had a different local dish every day, along with lovely Vietnamese coffee. The room was basic, but had everything we needed. It was great value for money and we would happily stay again.

GermanyAs mentioned it is a 5 stars homestay but not a 5 stars hotel, as the price also indicates. Come with expectations accordingly and you are going to be very happy with your choice. One thing you might want to bear in mind that the internet connection is not always totally reliable. But there is a fancy co-working space nearby in case you have critical tasks at those few times when there is no strong connection.
It is a 5stars Homestay in a lovely mostly quiet, green and very authentic area in Hoi An. I recommend it to everyone who prefers the sounds of birds over the sounds of motorbikes. It is very easy to get to a bank, market, shops in town or to the beach by simple bicycles provided for reasonable price. I loved my river view and enjoyed the swimming pool, that was warm and good enough size for a little swimming. I loved Tra Que Village with is wide green gardens, where the Homestay is located. Moon and Tri made me feel taken care of very well. I would come back here!

Location is amazing - located on the island, next to the garden fields, close to the centre and close to the beach. Owners were nice, allowed us early check in and free room upgrade. View from the room super nice, pool was okay and breakfast tasty.

Germanyeverything was great.
Tri and his stuff are very friendly and supportive. We really like the location of the homestay just outside of Hoi An in the vegetable village. So if you prefer nature and more quiet, it its a great homestay. You need to rent a scooter to get into the City of Hoi An (You can rent it at the homestay). It's just a 7-minute drive to the Center of Hoi An. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again (as we already did, it was our second time, staying at the moonriver homestay)

VietnamThis homestay is on the island which means it is away from the hussle and bussle of the city centre. It is perfect to relax and even get in touch with nature if you want to. The owners, Tri and Moon are phenomenal. They are kind, caring and willing to inlcude you in all of their activities (if you wish to do so). It is a 5 - 10 minute drive to the old town on a scooter and the same distance from the beach. They have a beautiful pool on the property, which meant we did not even need to go to the beach to swim. I would recommend this place to everyone. It was wonderful.

Czech RepublicI almost never write negative reviews but we were attracted by the raving reviews of this villa and it simply isn’t the current reality now in April 2025. This property probably seen great times in the past but not right now. - When we arrived, they were fixing the swimming pool so it was not possible to use it. When we were leaving, it was still nowhere near to be finished. It was a disappointment because with a child having the pool access was very important. No information about this on Booking.com or in their communication. There could be a discount offered because a crucial part of the facilities was not working. - The family is very kind and sweet on the first sight. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Considering it is a small house with just 4 rooms and family business you would expect them to be there for their guests. Unfortunately we had to hunt them every time we needed anything. It seems they are juggling other businesses or jobs but the guests shouldn’t feel it. During our stay we felt completely left behind and not taken care of. The man of the house is walking around shirtless all the time in front of children and guests (first time I see this in Vietnam). After experiencing the hospitality in Vietnam for several weeks, this was a disappointment and all other villas that we visited cared much more about their guests and behaved in more professional way. - Very simple breakfast - everywhere else you get a fruit plate. In the middle of Tra Que vegetable village… no fruit. Plus we were supposed to warm up our own breakfast at the shocking time of 9 am. It was too much for the guests. They asked me to make my own scrambled eggs. :-) What a hospitality. I work in tourism my whole life and this is the first time I experience that I pay for breakfast which I am supposed to make myself. Not being around for their guest in the breakfast time just shows how much the owners care about their property.
The location is amazing - right in the Tra Que vegetable village, in front of the river, with chickens next door and with beautiful view into the greenery. The Wi-Fi was strong and there was a good table in the room in case you need to work online. The room was reasonably clean and the shower with hot water was great.
