Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I stayed here for 2 nights and Hien completely looked after me from start to finish. She organised my transport from Da Nang, booked my sleeper bus, arranged tours, and even took us on a local food tour. From the beginning, she was upfront that this isn’t a party hostel but promised she would take care of me—and she truly did. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had the best experience. If you want somewhere welcoming, honest, and cared for like family, this is the place to stay!!!

Hien is again the perfect host - she went out of her way to help us out with bookings (buses etc), and staying with her is a delight. We can’t wait to come back!

United KingdomThe AC in our room was a bit hit and miss, and Hien leaves the hostel around 7pm so it may seem a bit dark and unsociable to some. But, there is a space outside to play cards or inside the dorm rooms to socialise.
Hien was just the best. Always there to offer help around trips (in Hoi An or other places such as Danang), sort or organise transport, make a special occasion extra special with cakes and flowers or words of wisdom. We felt right at home staying at her hostel and were sad to leave. We don't think we'll find somewhere as lovely, again. The rooms were large and the breakfast was varied with pancakes or eggs and mixed fruit everyday. You could borrow bikes whenever you wanted. The street food tour Hien arranged and led was also a highlight, too!

Belgiumnothing!
I absolutely loved my stay at this hostel! There's a very social vibe, it's really easy to connect with people here. The rooms are clean en spacious, and the location is a bit further from the old town (20 min walk or 2 min grab ride) therefore very calm. But the most wonderful thing about this hostel is the host Hien. She's the most kind and welcoming host ever, she knows the best places in town and helps with planning and transport. Would definitely come back here if I come back to Hoi An!!

United KingdomHien is the best, most friendly host and really made our stay in Hoi An special. Lovely breakfast including fruits and we were lucky enough to participate in a “hostel family lunch” which was great at bringing people together to socialise. Room was huge and shower water was always hot. Hien’s recommendation for things to do and see in the area were always really enjoyable! Helped us also post our clothes back to the UK.

CanadaCash only payments, so make sure you ask how much you will owe (room + taxis, etc) so you can get the money at the atm beforehand.
Amazing hostel! The owner really makes sure you feel welcomed there, provides customized information about the area depending on your tastes and interests, and overall strives to make feel like you're staying with friends and family. Breakfast is included (either eggs or pancakes), which is cool. You can arrange taxis to/from the airport or train station in Danang; the owner can also help with bus tickets. The hostel is not in the old town per se but close enough. You can bike there in 10-15 minutes ... or get a 2 dollar taxi on Grab app that will take you there in 5 minutes. The private bed I got was huge, the bed too and very comfortable.

PolandHien - the hostel owner, is an angel. She makes everyone feel welcome from the very first minute. She’s fun too and she made me laugh a lot. She works hard, but somehow always seem to have a lot of energy. Impressive! The hostel rooms are clean. There’s no luxury here, but you get everything you need. Free breakfast every morning, fresh baguettes with eggs and delicious pancakes. It’s a small hostel, don’t expect any parties or big crowds. But people who choose to stay here are great, everyone seemed to get along well. I stayed here for 7 days and I wish I could stay longer.

GermanyThe Cheerful Hostel in Hoi is a fantastic place to stay! The hostel is impeccably clean, with cleaning done twice a day. Rooms are spacious and in excellent condition, with beautifully painted murals that create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Drinks and snacks are offered at very fair prices, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. What truly sets this hostel apart, however, is Hien, likely the friendliest hostel owner in all of Vietnam! Her warm, humorous, and open-hearted personality makes you feel right at home. Hien knows Hoi An incredibly well, and her recommendations were always spot-on. She even treated the entire hostel to a home-cooked meal, adding a wonderful, personal touch to an already perfect stay. Highly recommended!

GermanyHien was the most amazing host. She made me feel at home even before I arrived, making sure I knew how much I should pay from the airport so I didn’t get scammed. She was filled with recommendations which made my stay in Hoi An so much more amazing. Anything you need is not a problem and she arranges trips and tours with pleasure. She even cooked everyone in the hostel noodles one day which was a great way to meet everyone. The vibe is social, without being a party hostel and everyone there was so lovely, kind and considerate. The location is a 20 min walk to the old town and is a nice way to see some more of city. If I could give this place 11 points I would. I truly felt cared for here and miss it already!
