How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Really difficult to find any faults!
It was our second time staying at the Somerset Grand and we will always choose to stay here when visiting Hanoi. Staff are so friendly and helpful, even sorting a cake for my husband's birthday. The apartment was really spacious and well equipped which was great considering we had to stay in one night due to bad weather. The pool is huge and you can order food and drinks to have at the poolside. Really useful supermarket downstairs as well. Didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on that. Location was great for all the sights of Hanoi with lots of places to eat within walking distance.

There was nothing to complain. Maybe if they updated the washing machines…. But all worked, i needed to make laundry and we were able to wash everything we needed. The washing machines have a drying function which simplified things. There was also a rack to dry clothes. Everything one needs for a quick stop!
For us the location was perfect because we wanted to be close to the train station and train street and some shopping. We liked it.

The only thing that we didn't like was the flag display on the rooftop. We were very shocked to see the Israeli flag displayed right next to the swimming pool , at time when Israel is clearly committing a genocide and is responsible for the murder of thousands and thousands of innocent people in Gaza. It was truly shocking to see the Israel flag displayed at such a time. However, we raised our concerns about this with the management and they were prompt in removing the flag. I hope it stays removed, for the sake of humanity. Would have given the hotel 10 stars if it were not for this!
Very spacious and comfortable apartment with loads of room for our family. Our apartment had two seperate bedrooms, each with a bathroom, and a kitchen that was well equipped. The property is well located and has a nice swimming pool and gym and there is a good minimart and spa downstairs.

The lift stopped working twice in the time we stayed (3 days).
Lovely staff on reception, very helpful. Checked us in early, organised a car transfer for us. Stored our luggage while we went to Halong Bay. Great location.

Loved the pool and amenities. Great restaurant on site and it was very handy having a supermarket and coffee shop downstairs! We also appreciated the warmth of all the hotel staff.

A great option for families. The large pool is a welcome oasis after a busy hot day sightseeing. 2 bedroom apartment has loads of space and the attentive housekeeping staff keep everything beautifully clean. A great location and perfect for families with children of all ages. Washing machine saves hours at laundromats - excellent addition. Small supermarket in building. Will most definitely be back. Highly recommended.
