Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe could not have found a nicer Homestay for our time in Sapa. Ashua and his entire family are so welcoming and create such a warm environment during your stay. Located around 20 minutes outside Sapa town, the cabins provide the perfect location for a relaxing stay surrounded by the rice fields. Sa (Ashua’s daughter) leads the most amazing treks through the surrounding area, filled with local knowledge and interesting facts about Vietnamese life. She is a gem! The food prepared by the family was also the best we had in the area. Sharing meals with the family heightens the homely experience in Ashua’s Homestay. This has definitely been a highlight of our trip! Many thanks to Ashua and his family for their hospitality

My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere outside of the buzz of Sa Pa town and we found the perfect place. Just a 20 minute taxi drive away, the homestay opens up to a full view of the nearby mountains and rice terraces. We sat on the terrace and read, and were able to just relax and take in the whole view. Ashua and his family were so accommodating and friendly and went above and beyond for us, and the breakfast was delicious each day. We booked a motorbike tour through Sa Pa but I felt unwell that morning and we had to cancel last minute after Ashua had arranged it. He was super nice about the cancellation and really accommodating. An amazing experience overall, would highly recommend staying here

This was without doubt one of the highlights on my SE Asia Trip. After coming from the busy Hanoi City, it was refreshing to land at Ashua and his family's home. The view from the homestay of the rice fields and mountains are incredible. Ashua and his family were so welcoming, and his wife is a fantastic cook. Sa, Ashua's daughter accompanied us on some trekking one day and she really stole the show. She speaks fantastic English as well. If you are looking for something authentic, peaceful and cultural, you have to stay at this homestay.

United KingdomBathroom light wasn’t very bright.
Very friendly family, all so kind and accommodating. They have a selection of treks you can choose from for an additional cost. We did the Bamboo forest trek with Sa which was great fun - Sa was so lovely, spoke fantastic English, and made our trek very fun. You can choose to eat the family dinner in the evening or there are a few restaurants locally if you are willing to walk/ taxi. Laundry facilities and supermarket within 2 minute walk. Grab operates in the area, it is about 20 minutes by taxi to the Homestay. The rooms were very spacious with a open fire for the cooler weather, and a fan for the warmer weather, FYI there was no aircon in our room, however we didn’t feel it was needed during our stay in June. Gorgeous view of the mountains from our room and patio chairs.

This was, without a doubt, the most memorable experience of all our travels. The accommodation is basically a beautiful bungalow owned by a warm and welcoming Hmong family, nestled in a peaceful village 20minutes drive from Sa Pa town. The place is private, authentic, and overlooked breathtaking rice fields—waking up to that view from the terrace each morning was something we’ll never forget. Breakfast was included and always delicious, and each evening we shared a home-cooked dinner with the family around their table. Every meal was different, full of flavor, it felt like being part of the family. One of the highlights of our stay was a trekking experience with Sa, the family’s daughter. She’s a wonderful guide, knowledgeable, friendly, and full of stories. Walking through the hills with her gave us a deeper understanding of the region and the Hmong way of life. Another big plus is the location, away from the touristy crowds of Sa Pa town, in a quiet village where you can truly experience the daily life of the Hmong people. There are also a few local restaurants nearby with stunning views, and just sitting and watching village life unfold around you is a joy in itself. If you want an authentic, peaceful, and enriching experience in northern Vietnam, do yourself a favor and book this homestay. We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories.

We also did a hike with Sa and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sapa. Nice restaurant and coffee shops within walking distance to Homestay. We rented a ped for the day from & there is a laundry place and shop up the road. Really welcoming family would visit again !

CanadaSapa Hmong Bungalow Homestay was probably our favourite accommodation in all of Vietnam! While simple, it had everything we needed - a heated blanket, fireplace, hot water, a lovely view, delicious food, great excursions, and an extremely welcoming host/family. Anytime we needed anything at all (a taxi, a recommendation, a fire made, etc) Ashouha was right on it. I would definitely recommend opting in for the family dinner as both Ashouha and Zizi are excellent cooks. We had such fun playing with the children, and practicing Vietnamese/English/Hmong with them! The motorbike tour was a blast - great value for money, and we had a great day trekking with Ashouha's sister in law. I would recommend this homestay to anyone travelling to Sapa, and would 100% stay here again if we returned. Thanks again!

FranceOur experience at Sapa Hmong Bungalow Homestay was absolutely perfect. We arrived by bus at 2am, and Ashua had everything arranged — from pickup to being personally escorted straight to our room. The room was spotless, well-equipped, and had the most stunning view overlooking the rice fields. The location is ideal: peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet just a 10–15 minute motorbike ride from Sapa town. We rented a motorbike directly from the homestay, which was super easy. We visited Sapa one evening and were so glad we chose to stay in the village instead — it’s so calm and relaxing here, far from the noise and crowds. Ashua was incredibly kind and helpful, assisting us with everything and helping to organize our days. We did a one-day trek in the valley with his daughter, which was a beautiful way to explore the landscapes and local culture. The entire family was so warm and welcoming. We shared delicious dinners with them every evening — each meal was homemade and absolutely delicious. Breakfasts were just as tasty. We truly couldn’t have been happier with our stay and would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
