Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaShower wasn’t very good but worked fine.
Bed was soft and room was good size. Enjoyed all the meals provided though very seafood orientated. Staff were friendly and helpful and the activities provided were fun! Appreciated that they planned everything to avoid the bigger boats. The small group we were with was much nicer and less crowded

South AfricaWe had booked a 2 night/3 day cruise and I think for logistical reasons they didn’t have enough passengers. But they were very accommodating and gave us the choice of a hotel on kat ba island for the 2nd night or stay on the boat and repeat the same itinerary. We stayed on the boat and we were so glad we did. kat ba is very busy with its of construction
The “location” and cruising in Lan Ha Bay was why we booked it. We chose this cruise over others because it was smaller (max 20 guests). Food and staff where exceptional. The cruise time’s everything perfect especially on the activities (kayaking and Viet Hai cycling island visit) so that they avoid the day trip crowds that can often arrive. The boat had old school warmth to it and has a great amount of free space on upper deck.

United KingdomThere is a lot of rubbish in the sea which is sad to see. I wish there was some conservation work going on there by the tour operators - I’d pay more if they make sure they’re responsibly collecting rubbish like they do in Europe on boats. The rooms are tired and require a lot of work (broken tiles and rust everywhere) but I think you expect that on a small boat so it didn’t impact the enjoyment of our stay - the staff temporarily fixed it for us by providing rugs. Some of our fellow guests had gas from the engine in their rooms though. The food is average at best - again, quite difficult to cater to 20 people on a small boat so didn’t impact our overall enjoyment. The travel by coach organised by the same company back to ninh binh was horrendous - the driving was unbelievably dangerous and fast - at one point a bloke on the coach went up and said ‘please slow down I really don’t want to die’, it was that bad. I was hanging on for dear life.
The cruise was cool - we spent two nights on there and we did lots of activities including making spring rolls, cycling, kayaking, fish pedicures and swimming. The local guides who accompanied us were very knowledgable and one even spotted some rare monkeys while we were out kayaking which was a special experience. They were kind and hospitable. The views were great.

AustraliaAfter multiple requests to recieve the itinerary in advance it was not provided and we were only given it verbally after the boat departed. The boat had some issues resulting in the engine running instead of generator overnight (lots of noise & fumes in the bedroom cabins overnight making it hard to sleep).
The cruise was actually around Lan Ha Bay, which was alot quieter than Ha Long Bay and we liked that. The food was really tasty and lots of it. Our tour guide was very friendly and spoke English. We really enjoyed the activities including a 10km bike ride around Viet Hai and kayak around the waterways. The views were stunning.

Everything was great and I would highly recommend doing a cruise in Lan Ha Bay—it was so quiet and serene. This itinerary was really fun and the transport logistics were super organized and clear. Also we really appreciated our guide Hi, really lovely and informative!

South AfricaVery few of us wanted to do Karaoke and it was loud. We would have preferred a quieter evening enjoying the sounds of nature.
Jack was great. Such a good host. Food was great. Beyond expection in beauty and extra activities - kayaking, swimming and cycling. We met some lovely people.

SloveniaKeep in mind that it's a long bus drive to reach the boat, about 3 hours. We had to exit the bus in between when the bus went on a ferry. I would say there's enough water in the room so you won't be thirsty, but the prices of other drinks (beer, cocktails) are very expensive. It makes sense since it has to be brought on the boat, but I think it's worth mentioning for future travellers.
Our family enjoyed this cruise very much. We had a nice and clean room, so it was comfortable enough for all 4 of us. The staff was very nice and we also enjoyed the itinerary. The kayaking and cycling were especially fun, also the spring roll demonstration. The food was plentiful, many different dishes, lots of fresh seafood, there was something for everyone.

SloveniaOur room was above engine so maybe it was not best location for balcony as we could not enjoy fresh air. I would reconsider karaoke night as we were in the nature and would love to enjoy some quite time. That is our opinion. Younger crowd enjoyed it and it didnt last long, to be fair.
I think it was great value for money considering it is one day all inclusive trip. It is more than just accomodation. Triple room had balcony.

QatarCoffee/ Tea wasn't warm enough. And if you put cold milk, its an end to the breakfast. They need put a coffee machine.
Food was flowing, like 5 star restaurant or cruise. My family was stupified with the variety, quality and amount of food. Mostly seafood. The tour guide Toan (Tony) and Long (Dragon) and all the staff. The rooms, beds and the towels were greatand the washrooms were clean. Provided with shower gel, shampoo, and toothbrush with paste. Pick up and Drop off couldn't be smooth enough. Unlike the 5 star cruises we had kayaking, self engaging activity rather than group of people in a boat. I enjoyed kayaking till my shoulders were in pain ( i don't know swimming btw). P.S - Book 2 nights only if you have family with seniors and super juniors, else 1 night is enough.

New ZealandIt turned out our 2 night cruise was just two one night cruises tacked together. We declined the suggestion that we joined another boat for the middle day, leaving our gear behind for 8 hours (it wasn’t really explained what we would be doing). So just hung out in our (very comfortable) cabin while the boat was unloaded and a new lot of crew and guests came on board. Not sure if this was because we booked late, or is the standard for Sunset. Little balcony at the stern of the boat was great but diesel fumes limited how mush we could sit out there.
Last minute booking of a 3 day, 2 night cruise on Lan Ha bay. Boat is not the flashest but our upstairs cabin with balcony was lovely, big windows, comfortable bed and large bathroom. Staff were great, extremely helpful. Food was fine for us, rooftop deck was great for dinners and socialising. The best part for us was meeting a great mix of people from all over the world, all ages but similar outlook and expectations. Itinerary was well planned and enjoyable.

South AfricaWe have no complaints at all but in winter perhaps the karaoke could start a little earlier as the gap after dinner was too long and it was too cold for us to stay on the upper deck until it started. Or perhaps we're just too old! 😂
We loved our 3 days onboard the boat. The staff were amazing, the views spectacular and the activities were great fun. The food was delicious too!
