The shower is problematical. A narrow space is manageable but to get the desired mix of hot and cold is practically impossible. I wasted water trying to get the right mix! And once ‘discovered’ the flow of water from the shower head is very narrow. Not the best.

Marcelo, at reception was great. He was helpful from the beginning till the end of my two night stay. Really good crisp and clean bed linen. A warm room, after Marcelo helped me with the control settings. Quiet environment so good sleep. Easy walking distance to old town attractions.

I forgot my wallet with my documents and cash, and they contacted me to return it to me. The staff were excellent with me, 10/10.

- I had 2 uninvited cockroaches in my room and the shower was really small and the curtains were not so clean. - The noise from the corridor is somewhat disturbing at night because you can hear them walk and opening and closing their doors. - The space in the room is nice but they can just do a bit of renovation to make the experience better.

- The staff is really friendly and nice. I went to the hotel early in the morning and they just offered early check in from their side. Not everyone at the reception speaks English well but they help in every way possible. - They even make the room fast in the morning. - Good location and everything is nearby.

The whole place is really old. Looks like an old inn, you can tell by the structure itself. It is also expensive. You can probably get a room in a 3 or 4 star hotel with the same money in any other country in South America that is not Uruguay.

One of the best values for money in Montevideo. Here's to any foreigner that may come across this review: Montevideo is extremely expensive. This place is probably the cheapest option you'll find with hot water, a decent bed, air conditioning and a working minibar. I'd discourage you to book it for longer stays though. The hotel is downtown, steps away from Plaza Independencia and the Ciudadela, probably the best tourist attraction in town. There's a Tata (Supermarket) on the way to the Plaza too and a variety of stores nearby. If what I shared is enough for you for a few nights and you want a more affordable option in MVD, I strongly recommend it.

I liked the hotel's location, in the city centre. It enabled us to move around easily and we were near the places we wanted to visit.

The breakfast was disappointing being just coffee and medialunas. The room was the first floor (2nd in most place) facing the street. The shower worked poorly, though there was hot water, and dribbled out of the shower head. There are folks living on ther street nearby and at times loud, but I never felt threatened or harassed. Around 2 or 2:30 am Sunday morning I was awakened to tecno music blasted from a boliche across the street. The bass was so loud that I felt the vibration and at first thought it was coming from below the room. The hotel staff and manager was very apologetic and said they hadn't been able to get the club to change it's ways. This was the worst part of my stay.

Check-in was quick and easy. The staff was courteous and helpful. The room was clean and bright and the air conditioning worked well. Despite some street noise, I was able to sleep well the first 2 nights (Thursday & Friday). See below for Saturday.

Room decor could be updated but they were not an issue. Everthing in the room works so no complaints. I stayed happily and slept very soundly.

Very central to Montevideo city centre. Very accommodating staff. Breakfast is given to everyone - medialunas (small croissants and coffee. Basic and dated room BUT meets the expecation of a one night stay in Montevideo.

The hotel is a bit old and run down, namely the room (just a small key to enter and the floor was uneven). Needs refurbishment and modernization, low value for money.

Nice, friendly staff. Enjoyed the breakfast and the common room. Very central location.
