How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The musty smell in the bed, caused by the wooden storage cupboard below the bed.
Staff were amazing. Welcoming and helpful. Used translator on phone to communicate - very appreciated. Good location and easy to find. Felt safe as a solo female traveller.

Have to put sheets yourself & they have no elastic so can easily come undone...its inconvenient to do when everyone is sleeping...
Stayed @ CheLagarto in Iguazu Falls so was expecting same modern clean safe affordable experience...this place is in an older building...so understamdable...within walkin to plaza independencia

You can't sit upright on the upper bunk beds and the rooftop terrace has no shady places.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room had a bathroom and an extra place with a sink in case the bathroom is occupied and you just want to brush your teeth etc. In addition to that the hostel has a lift.

The sheets had holes and stains, the pillow was super hard. The shower door fell off when I tried to use it. Both at night and in the morning the staff was moving mattrasses around as if they didn't have enough mattresses for all the beds, especially in the morning it felt like something you do after check out, not when people were still in their beds. The breakfast situation was messy as well.
Close to the bus terminal and cheap. Fine for one night. Staff was nice and spoke english.

Not the cleaneast place i've been to, the sofa in the common area has not been cleaned in ages
Very close to the main bus station of montevideo. Comfortable bed and clean sheets were given to us. I booked last minute so for 12 usd was a good deal.

I found the kitchen not that well equipped, but you can definitely still make it work.
That location is really good, especially if you're arriving weird hours as it's just a 10 min walk from Tres Cruces bus terminal. The beach front and the historic center are also pretty close. It was overall super clean and the stuff was very helpful and nice.

3 high bunks that aren't fastened to the wall and wobble all night if you are in the top bunk.

Drainage and door in shower needs attention. Very little cutlery in the kitchen.
Walking distance to the main bus terminal and the city. Friendly reception staff.

My bed was not comfortable, I felt through the thin mattress the hard slatted frame. Now after/during Covid I expect a soap by the toilet.. also no soap was provided by the toilet after I asked for it.
Close to the bus terminal. Nice and friendly staff.

Unfortunately no cooking after 3pm after checkout (fair enough), but bags should be able to be kept in storage after 5pm please..
Good bunch of people while I was there. Could do more to orginise events or have a what to do brochure. Cooking facilities was good.

I could hear a ringbell from main doors in my room. It was a minus. In my time there was not so many people so it was okey.
Small options for breakfast but it was enough ! It was much better than I expected for hostel. People super nice even not everybody can't speak english. They tried help me when I had a problem even I didn't speak spanish and they english. Some of the employees can speak English
