How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. They had eggs, sausage and waffles along with cereal and bagels, etc. for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

We were “upgraded” to double after reserving a king (2 months prior). We were not advised of this change at the front desk when we checked in- told Booking.com “over sold” the king rooms after we went to our “upgraded” room

It was difficult to find. Your sign at the bottom needs to be painted and more visible. We were in room 111, there seems to be a mold spot in the upper left-hand part of the ceiling. The room seems to be a little damp. For the breakfast, I would like to recommend that there would be more fruit, and yogurt. It seemed a little sparse.
The property was well kept. The staff were friendly. The lobby was very clean and our room was clean. The maintenance and cleaning crew did a good job.

Apparently a large number of residents of York feel it's necessary to make their car exhausts as loud as possible. We've never stayed anywhere where the traffic noise was so bad. Not the hotel's fault, but a comment on the area. The breakfast was limited. The bed was a little soft for my back. The hotel actually charges your credit card "in case of incidentals", rather than just putting a hold on your credit card. I don't know of any other hotel chain that does this. Now we have to make sure they refund us.
Hotel staff was nice. Everything was very clean. The location of the hotel is convenient. The cost was decent.

The shortness of our stay from 4 days to several hours. Not the Hotel fault. Airline issues!
The professionalism of your Front Desk Staff!! OUTSTANDING!!! My wife and I were in a difficult situation because we were coming in from the Philippines and because of flight delays, our 4-day visit to see family became a few hours. But your Staff was so understanding and sincere to our situation and their emails brought sunshine during a very rainy issue. Again our thank you to your Staff who were fantastic!!!

The grout in the bathroom floor looked old and dirty. The doorstop on the back of the bathroom door was loose and falling off.
The room was spacious and welcoming. All staff members were efficient and friendly. I loved the water pressure in the shower! Very relaxing!

We arrived at the hotel around 10:30pm and despite having already pre-paid for the booking the staff told me that they almost cancelled my booking. If they had done this they would have simply pocketed my money, which was already at an up charged rate due to a concert happening in the area, and caused my wife and I to not have any place to stay at 10:30pm after a very long day. I don't understand what the point of pre-paying for the room while also choosing a location with 24/7 staff is if you cannot check-in at a later time. Aside from that place was fantastic.
Hotel was perfectly fine. Clean and comfortable.

The bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have liked. The pillows were very small.
The room was very spacious, it had all the amenities you could want. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The a/c unit worked beautifully, and the room temp was very comfy.

Even set at a comfortable temperature, the room was humid and smelled musty. Breakfast is only available until 9am. They only had one working elevator.
Quiet, fairly clean room. Nice staff. Decent breakfast; only available until 9am though. Ample parking.

Asked for 2 xtra pillows as we had a king size bed with only 3 small pillows, was told at front desk that they only had one xtra pillow. Hard to believe!!!! Clerk was nice but again, hard to believe only one spare pillow.
