The stairs up to our room would be illegal in Massachusetts. They were not safe and not manageable for bringing up our luggage. We ended up just bringing up the necessary things which meant we needed to open the luggage in the car to sort. Guests should be warned ahead of time about this as we are 68 and 77 and it was a manageable but not comfortable situation for us. The air, though nice and cool for a hot day, was blowing on our heads all night so not very comfortable. Not sure if we did anything wrong but the owners skipped offering us juice in the morning at breakfast or even saying hello while they seemed to have friendly banter with the other guests...maybe they were not first time visitors? Hard to say that it encouraged us to want to visit again. We do visit the area every year, so it's a shame, but at our age maybe they were thinking we didn't have much longer to go ; ). I also wouldn't recommend to friends or family if that's a goal. We paid $320 which is about range for the area on a Friday mid summer but it certainly wasn't a bargain so no reason there.for a slight. Parking was on the street, I wouldn't call that "provided" though it turned out to be OK as we got the closest spot by luck.

The happy hour and ice cream sandwiches were a nice touch. If it wasn't so hot, it would have been enjoyable to rock on the porch or sit in the yard. The bath was nice though we didn't take advantage of the spa tub. No directions around as to how to use. It was short walk to the tourist downtown of Manteo so that was enjoyable. The furniture and the decoration was lovely and well organized. The breakfast was delicious.

This truly is a a very special get-away property! If you are looking for the usual pool//hot tub experience… look elsewhere. If you would enjoy a pampering experience in a truly lovely unique one of a kind accommodation, you have found it!

The room was lovely and felt like a pampering sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the world. A true “spa like” feel/ experience! The property is beautiful, serene and many lovely plants and art work to enjoy!

Noise from the door of the adjacent kitchen, no soundproofing from kitchen work area. (Stayed in Garden room). Heard loud voices, clinking dishes every morning very early. Woke us up. Then when we lay down for an afternoon nap, similar experience as they prepared the happy hour snacks. Kind of annoying and inconvenient. We also were cold and didn't find out we could adjust the heat until a few days after we checked in as the control was not in the room but located behind a door marked "do not disturb". Would have been good to be informed of the location of the control upon check in. We also never got the promised wifi login info, although we didn't use it much and relied on cell service. Inn keepers never said hello in person or introduced themselves, which was very odd for us, having stayed in many bnbs worldwide. That always seems to be part of the bnb experience that makes it special vs a hotel. (although we got several text messages) . That just felt impersonal. I also saw a bug in the tub, a little silver-fish which made me avoid trying the big soaking tub that initially looked very appealing. Only saw one but figured if there is a baby bug, there must be more adults hidden. Didn't want to make a fuss and risk breathing toxic insecticide, so just used the shower instead.

Pretty and charming decor, nice chandeliers, comfortable bed, quality linens, cute antique furniture, nice landscaping with flowers all over, little waterfall pond, cute decorations. Beautiful porch for sitting. Gas fireplace in the room. Good breakfast, more food than you could eat. Great coffee machine. Spacious room, large bathroom. Great location for exploring Manteo and nearby barrier islands. Good restaurants nearby. Bicycles are available from the inn to roam around the neighborhood. Cookies in the lobby. Electric door locks prevent losing keys. Happy hour daily, for those who like wine and snacks, although we skipped it.

Wonderful location and easy on street parking. The breakfast and daily happy hour were very enjoyable and delicious. Many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors and walk about the nearby village harbor. Nice selection of shops and restaurants. A perfect stay for a relaxing long weekend.

Location depends on what you want to achieve. Manteo is lovely, but a shortish drive to most things.

It was a bit awkward to carry suitcases up to the third floor on a narrow staircase, it would not have suited anyone with mobility problems. However I’m sure the owners/staff would have carried anything if asked. There is also a ground floor room.

THE BED, as well as having a unique charm, is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in - including my own at home ! We had the Roanoke room. The breakfasts were excellent. The location is an easy walk to the marina and a few restaurants. The wine and nibbles (included) in the late afternoon was a great way to meet and talk to other guests.

The rug in out room kept catching on the door creating a tripping hazard (my wife did trip). Would recommend taping it down for safety (or removing it entirely.
