Food was very good. Staff was wonderful.

River view was partial at best. A little trim job would go a long way.

There's absolutely nothing I didn't like about this place. Not only was it beautiful and the staff was kind and friendly they did an amazing breakfast and then proceeded to put out delicious hors d'oeuvres in the evening and after that to top it all off you got warm chocolate cookies and milk and then got to go outside and make s'mores with the little s'mores kits they made for you! I will absolutely be coming here again

I loved the historic lodge ambiance; the shared area, the room and the grounds. The only thing that did not fit the "imagined experience" was the reception and attitude of the check-in/front office staff. It kind of felt as though they were telling me that I was lucky to be staying there. Having 2 pieces of luggage, I asked the check-in young man if he could help me with my second piece of luggage when I brought it in. He did say yes, but I was surprised that he did not offer to help me up the stairs with my first, since it took me over 5 minutes just to noisely get up the stairs with it. Mind you that the stairs is only a few feet away. But the chef, Scott, was fantastic!!!!!

A lovely 'rustic' inn, but with luxurious, obviously renovated rooms (We were in a "river view" cabin, which boasted a stone fireplace and sofa, with private balcony overlooking the "river") (but see below), large and bright with lots of windows but well situated for privacy. Overall, completely charming, with very nice resort touches, such as a glass of local wine and beer available in the afternoons and hot cookies or s'mores over a fire pit in the evenings. The grounds are fantastic, giving a very secluded, forested feel, very quiet but easily reachable from the highway and town and within reach of several good restaurants. The main Lodge building was classic with large fireplace, decks, game tables and pictures of Clark Gable fishing (he evidently stayed there in the '30s); between the broad lawn, the room's balcony and the deck at the lodge, the place gives a choice of places to lounge and relax. Breakfast was hot and plentiful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The only negative was that the term 'river view cabin' was a bit of a misnomer. You couldn't actually see the river rom the room, except a very tiny sliver through the greenery -- it may have grown up since the listing -- but you can certainly hear it. The river is reachable via a path through the undergrowth, but a bit of a distance away. The room's balcony actually overlooks a small diversion channel rather than the river, but that was home to geese and other critters and was charming in its own way.

The main inn is nestled among beautiful mature trees, while the vacation rentals overlook a quaint irrigation canal. There are trails that lead directly from the property to the Rogue River. Early evening, complimentary snacks are served, followed by freshly baked cookies and milk - everything is prepared on site. Our room was comfortable, featuring a spacious walk-in closet and a large, high bed. I especially appreciated the quiet central AC. The staff were warm and welcoming, and offered helpful restaurant recommendations.
