Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe accommodation isn’t quite up to the price.
This is a quirky place to stay, an eclectic haven in the desert crammed with all sorts of art, ephemera, bits and pieces collected by the owners. Go with an open mind and you’ll have a great time. Carlo and Jack are great hosts who serve up good food and a warm welcome.

Villa Anita was a breath of fresh air. Carlo, Jack and Westin were exceptional, gracious hosts. Carlo is quite the creative chef and storyteller. The property itself is visually stimulating with art created from any and every source imaginable. The bungalow was stimulating and very comfortable. Peaceful and quiet location. Not for the Holiday Inn crowd.

FranceEver-developing art space that allows for full relaxation in a comfortable environment. We loved our little bungalow, watching the sunrise and starry sky around the property, and of course our hosts! Thanks also for the recommendation to check out China Ranch nearby - such a wonderful place for snacks and souvenirs.

CanadaI am addicted to my phone. Was I terrified that I couldn't access wifi from my room? Sure. But again, the goal was to BE in the desert not to be checking up on work, so if you go just have it in mind that wifi is closer to the owners home and not the rooms. We brought a couple cooler bags of snacks and supplies so we enjoyed staying on the property in our patio area, but we were there in November when there's cool weather.
We decided to stay here to experience the desert rather than rushing through it from Las Vegas to LA. This place was as immersive as we had hoped for. We loved that this was the home of the owners/artists and stepping foot from moonscape desert to this lush, humorous & maximalist labyrinth of trailers was exactly what we were hoping for. We found the owners to be engaging, kind and thoroughly themselves. They were helpful to us whenever we needed it and we loved our playful chats with them and tour through their up-cycled installations, garden and menagerie of cats and dogs.

United StatesThis is not just another hotel! The staff is amazing. The place is so cool and a great spot to relax. Lots of cool art throughout the premises. It is located right in the desert with great sunrise/sunset views. The food was great. They handled all our dietary needs with grace and deliciousness.

CanadaWhile we were welcomed by the hosts to share a morning coffee at around 8:00 am, we prefer an earlier start to the day so an in-room coffeemaker and mini-fridge would have been a welcome addition.
This is an amazing, unique experience for a certain type of traveler but not for everyone. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. They made us feel like visiting friends and freely shared their property with us. You must be a dog lover as you will be regularly swarmed by the large number of dogs on the property. The room (we stayed in the Shipwreck suite) was spacious and decorated with eclectic artwork as is the rest of the property. This is not a place for those who need everything to be orderly and neat but it is precisely their wild array of chaotic artifacts that make the visit profoundly memorable.

United StatesThe remote location becomes an asset so with an open mind it is hard to find fault with Villa Anita.
Visiting Villa Anita is an adventure in art and lifestyle. The grounds are a world of art and how recycled material can create a fantasy wonderland.

United KingdomThere were no surprises and everything was very clear and upfront, so no problems here. However I feel the dinner and breakfast at $55 and $35 per head respectively (which we knew about in advance) was not a fair price for the actual food provided. There was enough. It was wholesome and tasty. There was variety. So as I said, no surprises and no complaints, but value for money wasn't there for me. Having agreed the price upfront, we paid it willingly.
Very unusual and eccentric place in Tecopa. We were expecting something different and that's what we got. Tecopa itself is an otherworldly place and Vila Anita fits right in. Our hosts (and their friend) were very hospitable and we enjoyed chatting to them over dinner and breakfast. There are 11 dogs and we got barked at a bit, so don't go here if you don't like them. We grew up with dogs so it was no problem and the kids enjoyed them very much. No Wifi in the rooms (which I enjoyed), but make sure the youngsters are forewarned

We left with a memorable experience and an exposure to an extraordinary architectural artwork and the artists who have dedicated themselves to this unique experience. Be prepared to experience a personally authentic, creatively intense stay. This is not the Sheraton.

United StatesFive out of five in all categories. I was met with a friendly welcome from the owner of the property, who immediately gave me a full tour of the premises and a choice of rooms. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic (and healthy)! What a unique property to stay at, in an incredibly beautiful location. I am so glad I stayed at Villa Anita rather than one of the mass tourism hotels located within the park. The conversation, food, and uniqueness of this location made it one of my most unique hotel stays anywhere.

United StatesI would advise that you read the description closely as it's not a luxury hotel. Be open minded to the experience of traveling. It's within reasonable distance of the death valley NP but not as close as I'd wanted :-)
Breakfast was awesome. It was a full home cooked breakfast course. The location was close enough to Death Valley NP for a day trip. But if you seek a place to be creative or some soul searching, the villa is also a great space to explore your inner and outer self. It's more like a personal retreat space rather than just a place to sleep, so take the time to slow down and enjoy the moments. And the doggies!! <3 <3 <3
