The rooms themselves could use a few updates. The tiling was a bit outdated and the floors were a bit scuffed up. We had stayed there 25 years ago and the bathrooms seem pretty similar to then.

We came with our teenage boys to celebrate our anniversary while doing the road to Hana. The resort is beautiful and the staff were so kind and helpful. The lovely bag of snacks and card waiting in our room were a nice touch. The location was amazing and we definitely felt pampered. Our kids did not want to leave.

Beautiful grounds in Hana, a very special place

The rooms are somehow dated and would need some maintenance. There is only one hotel bar (at the pool) and it closes very early (late afternoon) so there is no option to have a drink in the evening. It’s a beautiful place - but one where you enjoy rest and quiet, some yoga, tenis etc. as other activities are a bit limited.

Hana is a very special place, Hana-Maui resort is the only proper resort / hotel in the area and it felt very special & privileged to be there. Hotel grounds are enormous and beautiful, the pool area has a breathtaking views. It is calm and quiet. The rooms are huge and the whole resort maintaining the style and atmosphere of the area, which is beautiful.

    The price

We drove the famous Road to Hana and decided to spend the night rather than make the long return trip the same day. Staying at the Hana-Maui Resort was a great way to truly enjoy the area without feeling rushed—but be prepared for the price. It was more than triple what we paid per night in Lahaina, which definitely makes it a splurge. That said, the resort offers a lot. Parking was included, and the property has everything you might need for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The rooms are massive—more like mid-sized apartments than traditional hotel suites. The bed was very comfortable, and the space overall felt thoughtfully designed and relaxing. The grounds are expansive and beautifully maintained, with a quiet, tranquil vibe that's hard to find anywhere else on Maui. We especially enjoyed the infinity pool, catching the sunrise, and just taking in the peaceful surroundings. One highlight for me was the fitness room, which was impressively equipped with free weights, Peloton bikes, and more. Even better—it opens up to a second pool, allowing you to work out while still soaking in the tropical atmosphere. Dining options include an off-site restaurant and some fantastic food trucks just footsteps away—perfect for a flavorful and fuss-free feast. All in all, if you're willing to splurge for a serene, off-the-beaten-path experience in Hana, the Hana-Maui Resort delivers. It’s not budget-friendly, but it offers a unique kind of luxury you won’t find elsewhere on the island.

The rooms did not have AC but there were multiple ceiling fans, a sliding door, and windows that helped bring the cool air in. The staff also provided multiple standing fans which was very helpful.

Beautiful resort in a peaceful town! The hotel room was clean and spacious. The resort is expansive with many amenities available to guests and beautiful views in all directions.

The beds were OLD. Not comfortable . My coffee maker was infested with ants. A delightful fact that I discovered while trying to make coffee before in room dining was open…… I wasn’t surprised when I found that there was no ac, but the lay out of our room made it nearly airless at night and the provided fans didn’t offer much relief. There are also no televisions.

The amenities! Gorgeous grounds and pools were lovely. The location was close to the beach ( walkable but not on property) shuttle service was available. The breakfast restaurant was good and had spectacular views. The spa treatments were wonderful. It was so quiet$

Having stayed at the resort 3 other times as Travassa we sorely miss the lunch and dinner service in the gorgeous dining room. It had an excellent restaurant. Now we have to use the Maui ranch restaurant and food trucks which pale in comparison. One thing that hasn’t changed is the amazing staff. So warm and welcoming and very attentive. Selma at the reception is a stand out.

The location is great right in the middle of Hana with amazing ocean views.

The beds, fitted sheets, a hot tub. More food options.

Location is great, but no hot tub!! The pools were cold and theirs very little to eat if you are a vegetarian. Also, they don't use fitted sheets on the bed so every night I'd wake up on a mattress (gross)! But the location is key. Perfect spot on the Hana side of the Island

The rooms that have not been upgraded need to be upgraded soon!

If you pay the lesser but still hefty price of 800 USD, you will get the old, non-renovated rooms, which are spacious and have some nostalgic charm to them, but are also in urgent need of a thorough upgrade. Otherwise, the property is stunning, with lush gardens and views of Hana, and an exquisite pool overlooking the ocean. The pancakes are your best options at breakfast.
