How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI was billed twice for my stay at the Westin. Booking.com didn't pay for my stay. I am very dissatisfied that Booking.com pocketed $2,597.55 that I initially paid up front on June 15, 2025 for this reservation. Consequently I had to come out of my pocket for an additional $2,555.89 at the conclusion of my stay on the property. I also paid Booking.com for Breakfast during my stay, however the Westin staff told me that Booking.com neglected to pay this service as well. Technically $5,153.44 out of my pocket was very disheartening.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for rating your experience with us. I’m truly sorry to hear about the billing issue you encountered. I completely understand how frustrating and disheartening it must have been to feel as though you paid twice for your stay, especially given the significant amount involved. We hope you do come back and see us again in the future. Wishing you a wonderful day!

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic, and the primary reason we love visiting this facility is the direct access to the beach. Everything you need—umbrellas, chairs, drinks, and food—is readily available, so there’s no need to walk over to the pool resort area. The beach service attendant is consistently attentive, friendly, and truly exceptional.
This visit wasn’t without its drawbacks. I was disappointed by the unpleasant smell of the water in the hotel—it resembled a sewage odor. Additionally, I advise paying close attention when booking your room. I reserved a room that was advertised as having a balcony, only to be informed upon arrival that it did not. I was told they would waive the resort fee, but since I made the reservation through Booking.com, I’m not certain how that will be handled. Breakfast was included in my package, but the front desk stated it didn’t appear in their system. I had to search through my emails to prove it. They ultimately honored the inclusion but initially provided vouchers for only two people, even though I booked the room for myself and my two daughters. They gave us vouchers for all three the first night, but only two for the next morning. Regarding the dining experience at Willet’s Lowcountry, we had a mixed experience. We arrived late for dinner the first night, but the staff was accommodating and friendly. Breakfast service was slower—we waited 15 minutes to be seated. On the second night, we arrived for dinner at 9:30 p.m. (they close at 10 p.m.), and I specifically asked if it was too late to be served. The waitress appeared uncomfortable, consulted someone else, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience. As a result, we left and chose to dine at the Pub across the street, where Daniel, our waiter, provided excellent service. After the incident at Willet’s Lowcountry, we opted to skip breakfast there and instead enjoyed lunch at The Wharf, just five minutes from the hotel. Shelly provided exceptional service and made our meal a highlight of the trip. Throughout our stay, we used valet parking, and Braylen stood out with his outstanding hospitality. This was not our first visit to the facility, but it wasn’t our best experience so far.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We're truly happy to hear how much you continue to enjoy our location and especially the convenience of direct beach access, it’s one of the things we’re most proud of, and it’s wonderful to know the beach amenities and service team made such a positive impression. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to our beach attendant and to Braylen with valet, they’ll be thrilled to hear they helped make your stay special. We’re genuinely sorry, though, that this visit didn’t fully meet your expectations. Your experience with the room booking confusion, the water odor, breakfast vouchers, and the service inconsistency at Willet’s Lowcountry is absolutely not the standard we strive for. We understand how frustrating these issues must have been, especially when traveling with your family. Please know we take your feedback to heart and will use it to work closely with both our front desk and restaurant teams to ensure better communication and guest service moving forward. While we're disappointed this wasn’t your best stay with us, we're grateful for your continued support and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide the seamless, relaxing experience you've come to love.

Verified reviewThe property was Marriott quality however…
We were charged for drinks we never had and it seemed to be an ordeal to get it cleared up when we were checking out. So, check your bill! Also, the receptionist appeared a tad put out by our request to have it removed. Scoffed at us a little for using a third party for booking (booking). Also the shampoo bottle fell off the wall in the shower in middle of the night and woke us up. This has happened to us before at Marriott. We loved Jekyll and would definitely go back. Wear bug spray if you walk on the beach!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the quality of our property and your visit to beautiful Jekyll Island! 🌴 I do want to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the billing issue and the shampoo bottle in the shower. I completely understand how frustrating that must have been, and I’m sorry that the resolution at check-out wasn’t handled as smoothly or kindly as it should have been. Your comments are truly appreciated, and we’ll definitely use them as an opportunity to improve. I’m glad to hear you’d consider visiting Jekyll again, we’d love to welcome you back! And yes, we agree, bug spray is a must for those beach walks! Thanks again for your feedback, and safe travels until we see you next time.

Verified reviewThe Westin on Jekyll island is a luxury resort. I felt like I was at an all-inclusive resort overseas. The grounds are neatly manicured. The staff is pleasant, accommodating and helpful. The trolley tour was my favorite activity. It was very informative. The peach pie that is served in the restaurant was DELICIOUS!
The only complaint I have is one dish I ate. I ordered the rotisserie chicken and it was indeed not rotisserie. It was a piece of processed chicken breast.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful feedback! We’re so glad you felt like you were at a luxury resort, and that you enjoyed the manicured grounds, the friendly service, and of course, that delicious peach pie. 🍑 The trolley tour is a favorite of many of our guests, so it’s great to hear it was a highlight of your trip too! Verified reviewLocation Decor / remodel Bartender Justin was amazing and stepped in to save their sat am breakfast
They must have been short staffed in their on site restaurant willets bc while their were 50% of the tables empty for bfast at willets restaurant it took 15 min just to be seated and over an hour to get, an HOUR, to get our breakfast. The staff was moving at a slugs pace until the pool bartender Justin arrived and jumped in to hustle and help. We arrived at bfast at 9:35 and received our food at 10:50. I know this bc we were supposed to meet ppl at 10:45. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience. Our room / bed was never made up the one day they had and we were gone all day and the dnd was not on the door. The room came with 2 four hour bike rentals included. They were all out so we paid for 2 bike rentals. The first night we were awaken by a dog barking incessantly at 4AM. After 3 hours my husband called the front desk. After another hour when he called the front desk again they said they had already called the owner and they were on their way. No concession or offer made. My husband stays in hotels weekly all over the country for work and he said the service was not the level you would expect from the Westin.
Apologies for the issues you experienced with the restaurant, bikes, and the dog barking all night. It’s certainly not our custom to provide anything less than an enjoyable experience. We hope you’ll consider giving us another chance to make it right.
