Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesStairs to the bedroom made getting luggage up a challenge. Bathroom for our room was down the hall.

United StatesThere was no breakfast made. It was help yourself to the kitchen. It felt odd going through the refrigerator and no directions as to the coffee machine which wasn't a basic coffee pot. I missed having a TV in the room. The home was huge and I think a map on the wall of the first floor would be helpful for guests.
The location was near other mansions in the area and a beautiful home. Beautiful architecture to see near by. Had a pool table for guests to use. Guests had free rein to walk around the home.

United StatesThe mansion was absolutely beautifully restored. The bed and linens could not have been more comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and had many great amenities. The cat was friendly well behaved and adorable. It was easy to get in and out and the space was outstanding. We would highly recommend this place.

United StatesA heads-up on the fees: Don't list a property for $110.00 and then tack on a $40.00 cleaning fee. I don't know why that bothered me.
What a Beautiful mansion. St Josephs has so much History. This home was filled with beautiful antiques. I didn't get the email on the instructions on how to get in ( it went to my junk mail ) and I was driving. Overall, it was a beautiful B&B , but if you are budget conscious, ( Like I thought I was,) it is not the price stated in the booking. After all the fees and a $40.00 cleaning fee which I thought was ridiculous, The total for a mere one-night stay was $161.00. If that OK with you, then this is a simply beautiful B & B. No One is actually there and you get the run of the place, breakfast included.

United StatesA little more instruction on breakfast. And really would have liked to have a TV in our room even though it’s supposed to be like olden days .
We didn’t eat a lot of breakfast. If was the 1st time we stayed at a bed and breakfast and we really weren’t sure what food we could eat and what we weren’t supposed to eat.

United StatesThe mansion is absolutely lovely. It’s just in general sad that such a beautiful neighborhood is not well kept.
Absolutely loved the vintage feel and the quality of the vintage decor. The mansion is obviously loved and cared for. A pool table is a great bonus. There was also an incredibly friendly Siamese kitty waiting for us on the mansion’s porch.

United StatesThere were guests across the hall from me who were quite loud later into the evening than I thought appropriate, but that certainly wasn't the fault of the B&B owner, but rather, the guests. I ended up wearing ear plugs and they helped muffle the noise enough for me to get to sleep.
I loved the location and the history of the surrounding area. Breakfast was "self prepare" and "self serve", which was unique. I wasn't hungry enough to fix anything, but did have some fruit and coffee. Also, I liked having a private bathroom in my accommodations. In other B&Bs I've stayed at, the bathrooms have been communal. Shared is okay, but private is preferred.

United StatesThe kitchen could use a few items - whole milk, varied fruit juices but overall acceptable.
Very clean, well-appointed and spacious rooms, Beds were comfortable (though the mattress a bit on the soft side), and lots of pillows. Self-serve kitchen was satisfactorily stocked. The neighborhood is interesting from a number of aspects with many old houses of varied architectures. Definitely take a good walk around to see it all. St Joseph isn't at all what it once was but a good place to visit in its own right. Definitely hit Il Lazzarone for some excellent wood-fired pizza.
