Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOf course, the house was beautiful! But my room had been sectioned off and the next rooms bathroom was right by my bed and I heard time they went to use the bathroom! My room fronted the street which was very busy and noisy.
That it was so close to Historical Old Salem

United StatesEven though the suite we stayed in had a sink and dish drying rack, microwave, coffee, and a full size refrig, there were no dishes or utensils and now dish soap or dish towels. This meant we had to go ask for these items each time we needed them. That seemed like a weird set up to not even have just two plates, two bowls, two glasses and two sets of utensils and some dish soap.
Very charming building and the Twin City Suite a friend and I shared was like a small apartment with a full size refrig which was nice to have. The staff, especially Stephanie and Elza where amazingly kind and quickly responded to any request we had. We had booked our next stay before we even left. The Founders Inn also had great dinner items (we tried many) and breakfast was okay.

United Statesnot the property’s fault but road construction made access a challenge, fortunately the front desk person was able to guide me in over the phone. Took a very long time to get warm water in the ‘super sized’ shower…and it never got hot. There are a lot of steps from the parking lot to the entry and hauling luggage was not fun. If you have a small car the circular driveway in front will save many steps but not all…suggestion…an access point from the parking lot into the rear of the building. this lodging is historic so maybe consider an external elevator up from rear parking lot that is disguised and visually unobtrusive.
very welcoming staff, very large and well decorated room, very good breakfast, overall, very good experience.

United StatesIf you're into TV and have particular channels you want to watch, ask if you get them in your room.
This place is is set in a cozy fashion,...you'll feel like home away from home. This place is not like a hotel room with modern walls and paintings (you get that anywhere else you go) and once in the room you're forgotten, no....Here you'll feel included from start to finish. It's sparkling clean everywhere you look in your room. Staff is awesome and the owner even more. Breakfast is free and it is prime. It's all you can eat but it's not buffet style,... you order at the table while you sip your coffee and the food comes to you in 5-10min. It's a full restaurant, you get the real deal. Parking free, location is great, you're in the middle of everything and have plenty of options to satisfy your curiosity.

BangladeshNo coffee cups, out of shampoo, no hand soap in bathroom, no robes. As someone who had dined at the restaurant before staying overnight, I think it would’ve been nice to know that the included breakfast menu was limited compared to every day offerings.
Room was spacious and quiet. Checkin was easy. Parking was close and convenient. Breakfast was delicious.

United StatesJust the modern decor. Family history could have been more evident.
The people were very nice and the breakfast was as well. The only issues we had were with decor. It lacked historical connection and was too modernized for a house that is 123 years old. The bottle of wine was a much appreciated touch. The location was excellent.
