Off season in South Fla is different. I was the only person in the hotel & the house cleaner. Plenty of parking

It felt a bit edgy. We were there on a night that the restaurant was closed so that was a bummer and we were the only guests so I’m not sure that our review of reflective of a typical stay. They were super nice. I would probably recommend hiding the ashtrays.

Hot water was iffy, but the staff assured us it would be hot in a few hours for an afternoon, pre-wedding shower. If folks want coffee you have to ask for coffee (for the coffee pot in the room). Maybe the restaurant will consider offering coffee and croissants in the morning. The staff (hotel and restaurant) is good but small, so I understand why breakfast is not offered. There's a good diner within an easy, 10 minute walk.

The Pros - comfy bed and clean, albeit small, room. The staff (basically one person) was helpful and knowledgable. We stayed on the first floor and a very good restaurant and well-stocked bar was just down the hall. But we really couldn't hear the 'noise' from the restaurant/bar.

The management sent two auto messages about checking in that included info about the restaurant and bar which I was looking forward to…what they failed to mention is that the restaurant is closed Mondays.

There was no shelf for shampoo in the shower and no safety hand rails in the shower to avoid slips. The bed was comfortable but a queen size would have been nicer.

The update rooms were clean and everything worked. Our housekeeper was friendly and available.

The lockbox was difficult to locate We had to call the staff for assistance. There was a coffee pot in the room but no coffee, even for our first morning. We purchased coffee from the vending machine. There were sugar ants in the bathroom, perhaps after our tooth paste.

The hotel had no office that you could check-in at. Someone in the attached restaurant had to call the lady (Christine) that apparently runs the place for the owner. There was no phone in the room to contact anyone. If I had a question or issue I had to go down to the restaurant so they could call Christine or I could knock on her door. She stayed in room 207. They provided a coffee pot but you had to buy coffee from a vending machine. Had to fiddle with the TV for 20 minutes to get it to work. They said they had Wi-fi but my pad couldn't seem to locate it. There was no shelf in the shower. Soap, shampoo and conditioner had to be put on the floor when you were done with it.

The room was clean and cozy. The room was pretty small but that wasn't a huge issue. The beds were twin and were somewhat comfortable. Other than that there wasn't much more I liked.

Was a little difficult to find the lockbox at the beginning of the stay and it was a little disconcerting that all the room keys were in one box together so anyone could grab your room key before you… also when we came in to the room there was a pile of dead flies near patio door. Could use more/better parking. When we arrived there was no parking, but there was 4 to 5 sets of room keys still in the lockbox so hotel wasn’t even filled and there wasn’t enough parking.

Very central to a lot of things! Able to easily walk to multiple restaurants as well as having the martini bar down stairs. Staff was very nice and quick to take care of needs/clean up mess/bring towels/etc.

No shelves to put soap in the shower. Poor soundproofing between rooms: we could easily hear our neighbor's bathroom. Due to a broken toilet, we were required to change rooms. After the toilet was fixed, we were forced to either move back to the original room or pay more to keep the new room.

Location was good as a gateway to the Everglades. Hotel was "functional" meaning it may not be 5-star but it has everything you need and its clean.

Not a lot of parking. Also the restaurant down stairs had live music, yes it was a Saturday night, but we were not made aware of that. It was very loud, it did stop at 11. It would have been nice to know in advance.

The plugs slipped/fell out of the electrical outlets. No elevator. A lot of noise from the bar/restaurant on Friday to Sunday evenings. Parking was hard on those nithts but we got help from the proprietor. We started out in a room with a queen-sized bed, and had to move our own stuff the next day to a room with a king size bed the next day. There was a coffee maked in the rooms but the only coffee for it was in a vending machine down the hall.

There is a bistro and bar on the first floor of the hotel. The first night of our 4-day stay, there was a wedding reception that was extremely loud and the noise didn’t stop until 1:30am. Quiet otherwise.

Independently owned, historic hotel. Great location for visiting Biscayne and Everglades National Parks. Very nice and receptive staff.
