Gorgeous hotel with vintage charm, but some small issues that could do with improvements!

With the old charm came a room that was in need of a slight update. Our toilet basically did not function at all which was very awkward when having to go downstairs and ask for it to get fixed, we had to ask twice and even after someone came and fixed it the problem still persists. I also found plumbing issues in the main lobby restrooms also. Our room also did not get cleaned the entire time we were there, which was only two nights but I would expect it from a 4 star hotel

Gorgeous hotel with charm that makes you feel like you’re transported back in time, super friendly staff and a really cool rooftop bar (though really busy & a super sticky floor!) Great location away from the busy French quarter and in the lovely garden district. We were celebrating the start of our honeymoon and they were kind enough to have a bottle of Prosecco for us on arrival!

Beautiful hotel with lovely decor in the rooms. Lovely cafe for breakfast with very friendly staff. The location is nice but a bit far from city center and French Quarter. It is often loud at night when people queue outside to get into the rooftop bar.

The toilet ran all the time and didn’t get repaired as I asked plus it was very noisy with hotel guests in the hall ways. Plus the bed and pillows were all hard and stiff. I was moved on the second night to another room for the remainder of my stay which was 100% improvement.

It is an older building. Our room could have used some love. There was no shower curtain, the toilet ran and the toilet seat was not anchored to the toilet bowl until we called for maintenance. There is no maid service until you leave. There was no mention of it by the front desk. You have to call if you want it during your stay. The hotel charges your credit card and additional $100 per night for “incidentals” they say will be refunded after you check out. However they charged the credit card for honor bar above and beyond that after checkout. Still waiting for the $400 refund. Not sure of what that “scheme” is about.

The rooftop bar was the best feature of the hotel however it was never advertised anywhere. We wouldn’t have known about it if we hadn’t shared the elevator with a couple going there. You would have thought there would have been a placard in the room or told by the staff on check-in.

Sitting room, desk area, and dining room in need of major redos. Pretty run down decor that is way too Mardi gras. There is no concierge. Breakfast room needs a redo. Dingy. Room was clean and quiet. Good shower.

Breakfast. Opens at 7. Make it 6.30 for those who are ordinarily in eastern time.

Dark, tired furnishings, not well maintained. Sagging chairs, antique curtains, poor lighting. Felt like staying with your great aunt.

Great location in Garden District, right on trolley line. Friendly professional staff. Popular rooftop bar.

Our first room we were put in was not good. Room 615 is billed as an oversized suite. It was dark, was dated, feel dirty and had a kitchen area that was terrible and made the whole room feel like a bad apartment. If you book a Suite make sure it is a room number ending in “07” not “15”.

The Whistle Stop Cafe is not particularly elegant, but even with a somewhat limited menu I offered a good selection of breakfast options, which of course included grits.

Upon check-in there was an issue where our reservation could not be located, despite having the reservation number from booking.com. The staff were very helpful and made a new reservation as quickly as possible. Somewhere in the shuffle, our request for a room with a bathtub was lost, but no big deal there. Housekeeping was not great. Almost every day of our stay we called the front desk about some minor issue–one day we had no towels; the next, our shampoo, conditioner, and soap were gone; another day, the bathrobes disappeared. It did not seem that sweeping or vacuuming occurred during our weeklong stay. The hotel needed some repairs. Stair banisters were broken in places, and the carpet in our room and hallway smelled musty/mildew-y.

The room was large and well-decorated, and the whole hotel was nicely designed. We loved the bathrobes and on-site dining options.

One key per room proved a little challenging, for two people sharing. Some of the room amenities felt very limited given the price.

The location is excellent, slightly out of the bustling area and easy to get around. The hotel is charming with very large rooms. Rooftop bar and terrace were worth the trek up – gorgeous views.

Overpriced for the Taylor swift concert, so I can’t say how much it is to stay here at normal rates. Someone dated in the room. I like the older, 1920s-40s style, vintage decor, but you can tell the place needs a bit of tlc. The quality of the carpet and the sink in our room was a little tired.

Awesome restaurant and rooftop bar. Great old school vibes.

Bathroom was a little dark and looked like the floor needed a bit more cleaning.

We loved the location in the garden district. We have been to New Orleans many times, but it was our first time staying in the garden district. Wonderful decision for our family. It was so easy to ride the street car and staying in a neighborhood full of locals made the stay much more enjoyable. There are good restaurants, cafes and ice cream just a short distance away. We came in July (hot and steamy!) and were still able to enjoy walking, so any other time of year should be amazing. The hotel is so charming and the staff are pleasant and helpful. The bathroom wasn’t quite spotless, the floor looked like it could have been cleaned more in the corners, but overall everything was clean. The beds were cozy and we never heard anyone next door or in the hallways. Would definitely love to stay here again.
