Nothing to complain about, honestly. If I were really picky, I might say the landscaping, while carefully maintained, was a little stark, but I thought it was just the fact that everything was new and will fill up nicely in a few years.

New hotel, modern and cozy, with very nice interior design, excellent use of space, large windows letting a lot of natural light in. Very clean, great coffee machine (Illy). The restaurant and bar were exceptional.

This is a unique, special place within a Vassar campus building. It is sustainable and even has a history display about the college in the lobby. There is no better location to stay near campus. There are even reading rooms with water and seltzer bottle fillers. Breakfast was ample.

Brand new hotel in a wonderful location right in front of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie (though technically in a beautiful area of the Hudson Valley). We stayed two nights in a lovely room on the second floor with two queen beds (we are a family of three). The staff was very responsive to all extra requests, very polite and friendly, and the breakfast was excellent (not a huge selection, but everything was fresh and good). The hotel is in the best area, right across from the university. It was truly a pleasure to stay here, especially because the hotel is quiet, clean, and well finished. The price is fair for what they offer.

Can't think of one thing I didn't like...

Loved "The Heartwood". The setting is really lovely, a mini forest in Poughkeepsie. The hotel is exquisitely designed and furnished, with generous rooms and beautiful fittings, selective but not pretentious. The Snug Room is gorgeous! Breakfast was robust and really good, made of healthy, high quality ingredients. The staff were great too! A really wonderful hotel, exceeding all expectations.

All was good. ‘Natural’ - tree less toilet paper. This must be a misunderstanding. The US is full of sustainable forestry.

The Heartwood really acts on the heart in their name. The facility was weighty with history, fresh with the hope for a bright and healthy world, and rich with the academic traditions of Vassar College. Architecturally satisfying, small enough to be intimate, with a decent little restaurant making an outsized effort to source local products and make things in house. Fresh flowers every day in the lobby, fresh scones in the breakfast buffet, comfortable beds, a little library/game room with a filtered water tap you can switch between still and sparkling, and a small but sufficient gym on the third floor. A really great place to stay.
