Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had fond memories of the Clift after staying 19 years ago on our honeymoon. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. We arrived on a Sunday when the red room was shut. We weren’t told how to use a virtual mini bar or that we need to ring reception to ask for linen for sofa bed. Hotel staff did apologise and knock money off for inconvenience. Luckily we could fit three of us in the super king.
Room was great with nice view. The Super king was super comfy.

United Statesvery spacious rooms and convenient and quick elevators. Bar was nice and bartenders and servers were very efficient and nice. Breakfast was also very convenient and tasty. I would definately stay here again as location is very close to Union Square and many fine restaurants. It was a short Uber ride to Oracle to see Giants game.

HungaryThere was only one hanger/robe hook in the bathroom. The wifi is without password (unprotected).
The staff was very accommodating, really friendly, kind and helpful. The room was huge, clean, comfortable and air conditioning worked well. The location was great, about 5 minutes to the Union Square or the cable tram and 30 minutes to the Ferry building. There are a few bars and restaurants nearby too. The bed was very comfortable. A refrigerator, a safe and a coffee machine served for our comfort. I loved all the "Anatomicals" products in the bathroom.

IsraelI booked the hotel with breakfast included for tree people . When we arrived, they explained to me that the breakfast costs 24 dollars each. 72 dollars to all of us. But when we came to eat breakfast I looked at the menu, and the breakfast without the coffee costs 19-25 dollars. So I didn't have coffee. It's the first time that I booked a hotel with breakfast and I didn't get full breakfast. I spoke with the manager, and he gave me 7 dollars back. It's a joke.
The hotel was clean and the location was good

SwitzerlandThe restaurant downstairs is nice and had good breakfast, but as usual in US city hotels it is very expensive. If you want to attract more tourists, make good deals for included breakfast... Room has an AC which worked quite well, but the window cannot be opened at all, not even a little bit. If you want to ventilate your room with fresh air, you won't be fully satisfied.
Nicely renovated room and hotel. Good price for this very good location. Coffee maker with daily refills and free water bottles. Small, for us sufficient refrigerator, many charging sockets.

United KingdomNothing to dislike, very comfortable stay
The room was spacious for our 5night stay (family of 5!) Bathroom modern, we were able to stream to the tv which meant we could relax in the evening. My son found the gym to be really good too. Staff all helpful. Housekeeping attended everyday. Was a bit concerned before arriving that the area would be sketchy but we found it to be perfect for exploring. Felt very safe. Walked to fishermans wharf, little italy easily.

United StatesThe hotel sits on the corner of Union Square, but the homeless are also nearby, which is a sight to see. The website( Booking) states the deposit is $150 upon arrival, but in reality, the hotel site states it's $150 per night deposit. I realized the information a day before and I was about to complain about it and get the $150 deposit which is the Booking policy. Your resort fee is included with (Booking) which includes $10 beverage & food credit, 2 waters, and wifi access, but you only get 2 bottles of water per stay not per night and they want you to use the $10 credit daily. On a good day, you can ask if they can put all the credits together to be used at once. I did not enjoy the breakfast spot at the hotel.
I enjoyed my room on the 5th floor & of course, I had a nice view. The staff was very nice and helpful. If you're not ready for your room to be cleaned, housekeeping doesn't have a problem returning at a later time. I loved the bathroom with a sliding mirror door.
