In addition to above, staff in kitchen unsociable. In our room the bedside lamps- one wasn’t plugged in and there was no plug nearby, the other lamp’s switch to turn it on was tenuous. To watch TV you had to have a streaming subscription for whatever you wanted to watch.

Liked contactless entrance. It was clean, rustic, had a nice view on the upper deck. Walkable to shops and town. I’ve only stayed at one other b & b so my expectations may have exceeded the norm. Did not like: Breakfast was not ‘homecooked’, instead other than the eggs - out of a box. Canned fruit, frozen French toast, potatoes out of a box. Food cold especially the coffee every morning.

Some of the facilities, particularly plumbing fixtures, could be updated without compromising the historical quaintness.

Old home charm with widow’s peak overlooking Silver Lake. Nice pool and good breakfast.

The castle was clean, the breakfast was awesome, great location, The staff were friendly and awesome. My dislike would be the tv is to small, the bed wasn’t bad but could use some upgrade.

Sometimes, we heard other voices...

Breakfast was great with friendly people. The widow's walk was great for sunsets. The antiques and wood lined rooms are charming. The bed was very comfy and the bath was large. Photos and history of The Castle's original builder/owner was posted and considerably added to the enjoyment!

Off season travelers enjoyed our stay , understanding the absence of staff. Had difficulty finding Billy's room because we thought the living quarters in back might be Billy's room.. Maps up front were puzzling. Large complex that we were un familiar with. Then we went inside office-porch and studied maps more carefully.

A little warmer in the room , but not bad, as it is February. Not much to do on the island, so be ready to relax.

Breakfast was terrific, saved us $20-$30 and included with the room. Wood throughout the Structure, old and beautiful!

Need better directions on TV in Billy’s Room #4. I saw where several guests made note of that and still a problem.

Comfortable charming room with beautiful view of the harbor. I enjoyed reading about the history of The Castle. I also loved climbing the stairs to take in the view of the lighthouse/ocean. The staff made me feel welcomed.

A few of the lights hung really low…my husband..6’2” kept hitting his head. I wouldn’t call the place ‘luxury’ as stated… more rustic. The bikes available were always gone and bed was not the most comfortable.

The location is great and the breakfast was delicious. The history of the place was cool and the home itself was interesting to see. Even though it’s a large B&B really didn’t hear other guests, and only really had to interact at breakfast time.

ATTENTION! This is not a reliable accommodation! No one showed up for check-in, emergency phone numbers did not work, email does not exist and there was no reply to booking.com messages. Be aware, Ocracoke is on an island - there are very limited options for alternate accommodations! Thank God Booking.com helped us to get our money back and find another accommodation for the night on that tiny island!

Needed more outlets to plug to charge our cellphones and my husband’s battery for his cochlear device. Everything else was great in the room.

Cozy and comfortable… absolutely beautiful interior and exterior! Wonderful breakfast! Easy to walk to a restaurant and other shops. Plenty of lounge chairs by the pool. Love the sauna. Beautiful area. Plenty of parking. Friendly staffs and host. Wishing we could stay longer! Will definitely be back!

We had to check out early to catch the ferry, and they put cereal, milk, and snacks in our room, plus provided toasted bagels and cream cheese for us to take with us on the ferry.
