Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWould have made more sense for couch in living area to be a pull out vs needing to add a roll away, esp w 2nd full bath, but we made it work.
We very much enjoyed our 3 nights at this hotel. It was centrally located and has several shops and restaurants. Our room was quiet/dark with a king plus living room area and roll away with 2 bathrooms. Nice gym areas. Daily housekeeping. Yummy dumpling place across street. Seems v popular with cruise ship crowd. V good ethnic restaurants (check “whiskey and ramen”)a couple books away. Also check out the nearby brewery with patio view. Hatcher’s pass w\ gold mine makes a good day trip too. Paid parking across street. For an epic adventure check Rust’s flying options... Didn’t see any other place I’d rather stay overall.

United KingdomBathroom only had one shampoo for two guests. Had soap but no shower gel. Had food from The Cubby but the egg in breakfast muffin was icy cold in the centre. Chai latte was ok but have had a lot better in Alaska. Bathroom very dated decor when considering cost of stay.
Very Clean. Spacious room. Good location with restaurants and bars very close and also cycle hire shops. Close to cycle trail. Very well organised staff as hotel caters for very many cruise ship passengers and group functions.

United StatesThere was cart rolling noise above us constantly, which is super annoying. We also found brown smudges on one of the towels and the bed sheet of the extra bed.
We stayed at the suite and it was spacious with nice view

United StatesThe Cubby was convenient when I was running late one morning, but, disappointingly, doesn't carry the special look / feel of the hotel into the space effectively. It's like you've walked into any contemporary hotel. Also the staff inside The Cubby were needlessly loud. That space needs some refinement.
Great hotel complex - lots of dining choices. The Athletic room for women was wonderful.

United StatesThe front desk check in gal had a horrible cold and runny nose. She didn't make eye contact and it felt like she really didn't want to be there, and maybe she didn't feel good that day. We had to ask our own questions to get answers that, in my experience, are typically explained in the beginning (see above about room being next to the elevator).
Everything was very clean. The beds and pillows were super comfortable and the sheets were wonderful. When we checked in, the front desk person did warn us that our room was next to the elevator and we would be hearing it. That was a nice head's up, but we did have to ask why we were next to the elevator. She just looked at us and then my friend asked if the hotel was full. It was then she replied, yes. But our room was great, the elevator was not a bother, and the view of my favorite Sleeping Lady mountain was beautiful! Also, the doormen, as usual, were exceptional with their customer service, friendliness, and speed in retrieving our car. And our dinner to catch up as college friends over wine and an excellent meal at Fletcher's was outstanding. The proximity to all we were doing for Fur Rondy activities was excellent (AND First Friday was IN the hotel!!!).

United StatesSome availability of food or snacks after 11PM would be highly desirable whether purchasable in the in-room refrigerator or in coin operated machines in the hotel. The rooms are too hot at night even with the central fan on, and adjusting the heat has been difficult for me.
I liked the food available from 6AM to 11 PM., the shops in the hotel, and the Captain Cook-related art. The hotel is well located.

SwitzerlandConsidering the limited choice of hotels in downtown Anchorage, the Capt. Cook is probably one of the better options. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, decent bathroom. Be aware, though, that it caters mainly to cruise passengers, which come in droves and occupy most of the hotel. Individual travellers, it seems, are only there to fill rooms that haven't been sold to cruise companies. The whole front desk is incredibly rude, unwelcoming and unhelpful, staff at breakfast unmotivated. The big exception: the bell staff - efficient and kind. There is no airport shuttle! Overall, service is far below the bar of what can be expected from a hotel in this price category.
The hotel's location in close proximity to shops and restaurants is a big plus.
