The place was tastefully decorated. The small touches, like fresh banana muffins awaiting us on arrival. The homemade breakfast was delicious. The staff attentive, could do more for us. Would highly recommend!

During our first night, there were a few anti-social flies that found their way behind the blinds. Our stay was right after a heat spell in October so this was not too surprising considering the house is a time capsule from the 1870's.

Like something out of a book! My sister and I truly enjoyed our stay here and the incredible breakfasts- this is a true BNB. Shout out to Amanda the housekeeper/chef, she was a wonderful host and a delight to chat with.

As an old house the stairways were challenging and the separate bathroom could have been more convenient. (Down the hall and on a different landing) shared with another room. (No ensuite facilities available)

Location was quite convenient to the desired area. The house itself is a fin de siecle gem. Breakfast was very good.

Our room (The William) only had a creaky Double bed - but we still slept fine. We also shared a bathroom - but that too was fine.

The Bevin house is beautifully restored. Andrew the Innkeeper & Chef is very personable and funny. His breakfasts, daily cookies and hot cider were phenomenal! We even fed the goats on the grounds.

Unfortunately, we had many stink bugs in our room. I understand they were all over CT, out of anyone’s control but it was uncomfortable looking at them crawling along the walls

Just Kleenex and cups in bathroom.

The location was perfect for our plans. Chef Andrew’s breakfasts were hearty and delicious with special gourmet touches each day. Andrew welcomed us warmly when we arrived, giving us a personal tour and history of Bevin House. Add to that our pleasant conversations with him throughout our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bevin House.

AC was inadvertently turned off our first night on the 3rd floor and due to our late arrival was endured until the next morning when we mentioned this.

This was a great 19th century house with a fascinating history and period furnishings. The covered back porch was a totally enjoyable experience for breakfast each day.

The bed comfort was “good” but would be much more comfortable with a nice memory foam topper or new top of the line comfort mattress. As an older adult, it would have been an even better stay if the room had its own toilet. Only one room in the B&B had its own bathroom, but it was booked.

Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable hosts. Beautifully restored and furnished historic home. Gorgeous quiet rooms.

The room did not have enough closet/drawer space to unpack a weeks worth of clothing. Most guests stayed for only one or two nights but for longer stays living out of a suitcase was irritating. The bathroom was shared with another double room which was a surprise as it was not clear at the time of booking in the room description that the bathroom was shared. Only one room has an en-suite.

The house is a Connecticut Landmark building. It has been recently restored in an appropriate fashion. Although the pool was closed the house offered a very comfortable period feel. There was several reception/library rooms to spend a quiet time in reading and sipping an evening drink. The owner prepared breakfast to a high standard and took pride in his choice of food and preparation, not the normal American breakfast. Eaten around a large table with the other guests. Ample parking.

The breakfasts were disappointing. The main reason I choose B&Bs is for the normally delicious breakfasts. Here, Everything was served cold and the fancy dishes (frittata, dutch baby) were tasteless. After three days I was longing for plain, hot eggs and pancakes. The house is full of antiques, which are comfortable, but rooms are dark and a little stuffy. Some conveniences were lacking that could be easily fixed, such as lights bright enough to read by (the Chauncey room is very dark); closet hangers and/or hooks for clothes; counter space in bathroom for cosmetics, clothes, and glasses; and racks or other flat surfaces for luggage. We had to leave our suitcases on the floor.

The property is beautiful. Outside deck, gardens, pool. Spacious house and grounds. Lots of rooms for guests to spread out and relax. I really enjoyed meeting other guests at breakfast and swapping life stories. Hostess / innkeeper was very nice and accommodated requests. I asked for a light blanket and got it. Special diets were honored. It was no problem at all sharing a bathroom with another room, especially since thick cotton bathrobes were provided. Loved having a sink and mini-frig in our room.

I booked quickly on Bookings.com ("last room available at this price!") without checking the details and understanding that I was playing $250 but didn't have a bathroom in my room. I wanted comfort and privacy much more than quaintness, library and music room, so it wasn't a good fit for me (and had I been more careful I would have figured that out before staying there).

Andrew served my breakfast early since I needed to be out by 7am. He didn't have to do that and it was the best part of my stay.
