How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The hotel was great, clean, comfy beds and renovated bathrooms. It is located across the road from a mall (with a Whole Foods) which is helpful. Staff were helpful and responsive. Found the rooms quite even though it located close to the road. Good value for money overall

Property is older but clean and well kept, but the room air conditioner was rather noisy, so we ended up just opening windows for cool air, which was a tradeoff for hearing street traffic.
Location is a convenient location for attending a race at Laguna Seca Raceway, and also reasonable close to restaurants and attractions of the Monterey waterfront.

The fridge was noisy at night
The hotel is located right opposite a big shopping centre, so it was very convenient being able to walk across the road for meals or the supermarket. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The room never got fully dark because there were just shutters and a really bright light outside the room. We could hear a really loud tv the first night until late. Not the hotels fault but just bear in mind that you may be able to hear neighbours. We let the staff know who said they would sort it if it happened again but thankfully it didn’t. The fridge also made a loud noise intermittently through the night. A pet peeve of mine in hotels is when the tv has capability for Netflix, YouTube etc but it’s not enabled. This was the case here which I was surprised by given the price.
The room was as expected, slightly smaller than I thought from the pictures but still a good size with a big bed. All very clean and the bathroom had a great makeup mirror. It was easy to find with plenty of parking. There is a shopping centre over the road and is close to restaurants and the sea. It is also about a 10 minute drive from Carmel. Room was well equipped with a safe, microwave, fridge and keurig, iron and ironing board.

The only thing I could say I really didn't like was the shower. The water pressure and the shower head weren't my favorite.
I love how big the room was. It could accommodated more than just my family. I also like the fact that it was clean. I love how the little coffee and refrigerator area had a door to close so you didn't hear the fridge running at night. Opening the windows to get fresh ocean smelling air was nice too.

The parking was very limited.I didn’t realize there were 2nd floors, and they only had 1 roll of toilet paper so we ran out of it by Sunday. The shower didn’t seem to work so I couldn’t take a shower.
The bed was comfortable.

I think the heater was malfunctioning/ I booked last minute and arrived after midnight. I came to a room that was in the late 50s. It felt so cold! I turned the heat on high but the highest it got was 63. This is truly not acceptable!
It was clean and inviting. It felt safe. Safety is very important to me as a female when I travel alone. Cleanliness is #1 as I work in healthcare and infection control is #1. This felt very clean and safe.

For the two nights we stayed it was ideal. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Easy booking in system, no breakfast but plenty of places nearby.
