Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOnly negative was a loose towel hook in the bathroom, which Michael had been meaning to fix. In an ideal world, the outlets in the room would have been a little easier to reach, especially next to the bed.
Michael, the owner and host, is a former culinary student and pastry chef who makes a great breakfast that includes variety of locally sourced egg dishes with light and tasty scones and fresh fruit. He is very knowledgeable about the area and can make excellent recommendations for farmer's markets, antiques, etc., and also sells $10 passes for nearby public beaches. The B&B is very quaint and comfortable - our Garden room was a good size with a newly renovated bathroom - and has nice common areas with coffee, tea, books, DVDs. The B&B is unbelievably close (1 minute walk) to downtown Madison with shops and restaurants and a movie theater. It is also a quick 10 minute drive to the nice beaches and trails at Hammonasset State Park ($15 fee for out of staters). Parking is easy in a reserved area (3 cars seem to fit) next to the B&B or on the street (which is parallel to the main road). Highly recommend the Scranton Seahorse Inn for trips to Madison or nearby CT coast. The price seemed very much in line or somewhat cheaper than comparable places in the area during peak summer season.

United StatesWe can’t think of anything that would have improved our stay.
The inn far exceeded any expectations. Michael was cordial and attentive, his breakfasts were 5 star. The room was very comfortable and as a bonus, we slept extremely well. The grounds are beautiful and the location is ideal, just a short walk to an interesting little town.

United StatesThe bathrooms could use an update, but they were more than sufficient.
Historic charm, large suite like room with a porch right off the room that was shared with all guests, but we had it to ourselves the entire time. The breakfasts were delicious and we met some very nice people.

United StatesIt's a rambling old property (which accounts for its charm), but some of the fixtures seem a little tired and could use updating.
Breakfast was superb both days. Great buttermilk pancakes, blueberry scones. The proprietor knows what he's doing in the kitchen.

United StatesI have no suggestions except possibly instructions on how to play a DVD on the TV. The remote did not work for movies. Fortunately my husband figured it out quickly.
Scranton Seahorse Inn was easy to find just off the main street of Madison. Check-in was well-prepared for guests to take their keys with instructions to locate the room prepared for them. The entire first floor was common area with a large dining room and two smaller sitting rooms. The front room contained a library of DVDs. Beautifully decorated. The room and bed were extremely comfortable. There is a TV in every room with ability to insert a DVD, controls are on the side of the TV. Coffee or tea was available in reception area. Breakfast included juices, morning cakes and homemade waffles with fruit compote and sausage patty. Very pleasant stay on New Year's Eve. Very quiet, very pleasant. Madison is beautiful. Highly suggest visiting Meig's Point Nature Center.

United StatesI’m sure it’s just these older homes where showers are installed much later and so separate from the sink & toilet.
It’s a quaint home cleverly decorated for Halloween. The host Mike was very accommodating and we were very appreciative. Good location.

United StatesThe only reason we stayed at the Inn was because i wasnt going to Conneticut and stay in a basic motel. We just spent the night on our way to Boston so for a B&B i thought the rate was high. Maybe that is normal for the area.
The breakfast was very good. It was definitely not a typical breakfast.
