Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe room had a light fixture that was hung from the ceiling, so low. I probably hit my head on it 25 times in the 22 hours I was there. Pick a different light fixture that is not a liability for any guest 5'10", or taller.
This is in a great location. The price cannot be beat. I trusted the managemants security safeguards they had in place for checking in.

FranceThe cleanliness, especially in the kitchen (and to a lesser extent in the bathroom), was approximate, but as the owner specify that's the responsibility of the guests to pay attention to this because there is no maid 24/7.
The location is close to the bus lines. The owner is very available and quick to answer and he wants you to be comfortable and have a good stay. He really cares about his guests. If you have any problems, he will be happy to solve them as soon as possible. The check-in and check-out information were very clear and easy. You can lock your room when you go out.

NetherlandsThe owner asks for a 5 star no less, but doesn't consider that you might get less, still he knows you shouldn't move a guest once he said yes to the accommodation on booking.com originally booked and confirmed.. I got told to move to the other 'lilly' pad in which travelling and losing 2 hours isn't taken in consideration of the ordered time originally booked in the first place. Do not swap out places once ordered on Booking.com pls! Might be noisy, yea there are ear pads offered. Usb charger ports are there although not easy accessible at some rooms.. Overal the washing machine didn't run the program complete and started to make a clicking sound at the second Lilly pad stay. (Fix pls.)
Able to clean laundry is a sheer plus+ So yea bang for a buck. Walking Distance area's.

United StatesIt was dirty, which wasn’t an issue for me however, there were mice in our room (or rats we are unsure) that bit through my friends bag to get to her sealed bag of skittles. They knew about this infestation because we saw the mouse trap under the bed. We notified the owner and he didn’t seem to care. We asked if we could change room and he said he was all booked up so we couldn’t , which wasn’t true as there were a few empty rooms on our floor. After we suggested that, he stropped saying that we could check out that day and he could get the room rebooked by someone who wanted it. He said that he would get someone to spray mint in the room to repel the mice but this never happened. We were moved to Lilly Pad which isn’t Rock Pad and doesn’t look like the photos. There was cat food everywhere and although we never saw a cat, we think that one lives there. I am allergic and so would have liked to have been notified before.

Despite timestamped/geolocated photo evidence, Booking.com sided with the host’s false claims and refused a refund. Unethical practices and negligence ruined my trip—avoid this platform

United StatesScruffy neighborhood, poorly maintained property. On arrival found that bedding needed to be collected before we made our own bed. No pillowcases provided until special request made by telephone that resulted in being directed to the dryer in the laundry. Shared bathroom was not clean. On entering and leaving a recorded voice declared that we were being recorded.
Breakfast was not provided.

United StatesGreat communication! Room was not super clean, but certainly clean enough. The bathroom wasn’t super clean, but it was clean enough. The kitchen wasn’t super clean, but it was clean enough. Air conditioner and fridge right in the room. Neighborhood was just a tiny bit sketchy, but the house had great security. Nice deck out back. It felt a little like a hostile, but when I was there it was very quiet, only saw a few people. Big house with 9-10 rooms.

United StatesThis air b and b was misrepresented in cleanliness, safety, location, and value. It was horribly hot due to lack of ventilation or air conditioning. The floors were filthy The showers had black mold and the shower head actually came off in my hand. The neighborhood was dangerous, had nightly loud house parties. And to top it off, my daughter's shoes were stolen during our stay. After our theft, we were fearful to leave our door unlocked when using the toilet. This was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. Please don't list it on your site anymore. We started calling it a "scare b and b."

United StatesI went into the room and it smelled like cigarette smoke and worse. The outside of the home was scary, in disrepair, trash outside. The neighborhood didn't seem great but seemed quiet.
I did not stay. Too yucky. I appreciated that the staff was responsive when I contacted them the next day and was willing to come to an amicable resolution.
