How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We liked everything. With our 77-78 year age it was also decently convenient.
We really liked the wonderful family of Adlyn and Eroll and their two so nice kids. They provided us with heartful and loving stay throughout our 4 weeks. The location in Brooklyn is in the center and close to 2 subway stations easily taking us to all over Manhattan and Bronx in a short time.

Adlynn and Errol are great hosts. They provide a comfy and safe place for a stay in NY. The well equipped kitchen is a great place to meet with other guests. The place is close to a subway station and can easily be reached from both the airport and Manhattan. Would stay there again!

Noisy train (elevated) located just round the corner.
Location is very practical both for Manhattan and Brooklyn destinations. Lots of fast food and dining establishments around the area. Peaceful and safe neighborhood. Complete pantry and kitchen amenities. Helpful operator. Best place for Subway commuter as well as Airtrain riders. People in the neighborhood are friendly and helpful. Value for money at its best! Highly recommended. Two thumbs up!

The entire place was extremely clean , quiet, and tranquil. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Nice added treat of snacks and basic necessities. They thought of every possible scenario and provided relief. Provided parking in a very congested area. Will positively utilize their services again

If you stay in the bedroom near the street it can be a little bit noisy, but wearing earplugs solved the problem
The place is very clean and comfortable, and the hosts are super nice! It is 5 minutes from the metro station. Excellent price/quality rate for visiting NY

Our bedroom faced onto a busy, noisy railway line The location is in a somewhat down market area, we were uneasy about walking from the underground station at night.
Our host Errol went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. Access to a fully equipped kitchen was great. Being 5 minutes walk from the underground tube station was very convenient

It is about 45 min by metro from Manhattan so it is not that convenient if you want to rest along the day, although it is well connected by metro with a station 5 min away. The area is not nice looking but it is very safe.
The hosting family is very nice always willing to help. The kitchen is full stocked with all you need to make breakfast or having snacks. That is very nice of them. Also bathroom and room were very clean and place very quiet.

The only very minor thing was the Wi-Fi. It was a little bit patchy, and sometimes didn't work at all. Not a major issue, as we were out most of the day exploring.
We loved the room and the facilities at the property. Location was great, close to the subway station that takes you straight to Manhattan.

There is a lot of noise from the street (train and cars).
Very friendly host! Good price/quality. Location near subway station. Coffee, muffins, eggs, snacks available.

Erroll, the property's owner, was extremely helpul and kind with us. He really made us feel as if we were at home. He kept the appartment clean everyday, and put some complimentary provisions in the fridge and kitchen cupboards for us and the other persons sharing the appartment with us. Our first room was kinda small but since the other guests left, we asked to be changed and as the other rooms were available he accepted our request. In any case, the rooms were quiet and we could have a nice stay in this property. The neighborhood is ok, it is pretty close from the station Ralph Avenue (subway line C), otherwise it was also close to Astoria Station (12 min walk) which also has the line A (which is faster to go to Manhattan).

I was cold at night but couldn't find an extra blanket. Neighbourhood could be cleaner (has nothing to do with the hosts of course).
The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. It was clean. The kitchen/common room looks a bit randomly put together but adds to the charme. The subway is in close walking distance. Great, affordable price.

Could not connect to Wi-Fi.
It was just what I needed for one night. The reception by the host was nice. Gave me a complete overview of the place and showed me around. The room I had was very comfortable. Only issue I had was trying connect to the Wi-Fi, I was not able to. My room had an A/C unit. If you're looking for a quite, affordable place in Brooklyn, this is it.

Rochester’s place is exceptional for those who want to stay in New York without the prices of Manhattan. The location is perfect, there is a subway station just 5 minutes away and the neighbourhood is safe. The family who runs it is so charming. I definitely recommend the place.

We stayed a week or so there and it was just PERFECT ! In the apartment there are three rooms to rent with a common space. The apartment is clean and the hosts are a peach!: Really attentive,friendly and soooo welcoming. The kitchen is well-equipped and the fridges are full for a good breakfast,lunch or dinner! They also let the guests use toiletries,which is really appreciated when u travel light! The location is just perfect: within a stone throw from C or A train and the neighborhood is safe even if at first sight you could be sceptical- we went back late at night many times and never had any issues and felt safe all the way- we highly recommend staying there,it's worth it!

Bring earplugs if you stay facing the railroad.
Clinically clean and sweet friendly hosts. Always water, snacks, etc. at your disposal. Most importantly cold beers sold in the little store next door :) A/C in the room. A fan in the shared space. Variety of toiletries in the bathroom.

This was such a nice place for solo travelers. I felt completely safe as a woman coming to the city alone. The owners were so nice and accommodating. I love how close this was to the train (around 5-6 min walk) and the corner store (which has really good food). Plus my room had a great A/C unit which keep me cool during the hot weekend. Also, the fridges were stocked with drinks and snacks. I would stay again if I was in the city. Thanks again! <3
