How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt was not to far from the beach. Parking was free. The personal came within 5 minutes after we called that the tv would not work properly and fixed it for that night and he brought us a remote. Free coffee in the lobby. Easy check in and check out.
After we turned of the tv we had the issue again. But we did not called again. In our room the paint came of the sealing in the corner behind the door.

It was not the cleanest. It’s very old. It stinks inside the rooms. Bathrooms are atrocious. And ceiling had pee stains from a plumbing leak. Doors were loud and hard to close. Pillow case was missing when we first entered and sheets were thin. Stinks very bad.

Men were urinating off the balcony, the floor above us while we were sitting below them. The shower had mole on the curtain part. The water didn’t have no pressure and smelled funny.

Verified reviewNothing, you should take it off your site. I booked for 2 nights and left after one with no refund. As you could see I am a genius level 3+ and never had an experience and been more disappointed. You listed the place as pleasant and I took your advice I may have to look at other sites.
It was dirty. Sheets on the bed had wholes in them Towel were of very poor quality. Room had no tissues, no hair dryer no iron or broad no microwave no coffee maker no safe and was not serviced the one day I was there So we had no towels for our shower. The only things that they gave to you were 3 very bars of soap which was not enough for a shower, which was poor condition and you could not adjust the water.

Verified reviewThe front desk attended did show me several rooms as the first one we went into was not clean.
No one seems to check the work of house keeping. Was shown several rooms where the bathrooms were not cleaned. Toilets had urine, feces and pubic hair on them suggesting they hadn't been cleaned in some time.

We stayed for 2 days. We had terrible tv service. We couldn’t even get the local channels. I told the front desk. We checked in on Tuesday and I told them on Wednesday they said they would try to have somebody come and check it later. If not it would be Thursday morning and I told her we were checking out Thursday morning and I would not need a Tv. I just think that they need to make sure everything is working in the rooms, or come and fix them and not make you wait . You are paying for a room where everything should be working when you check in. If not it should be fixed in a timely manner. Thank you Cindy Marin

Verified reviewProperty was aged and the amenities were no where to be found, no bathroom amenities and the tub/shower was NASTY! Blanket on bed was very very thin and hasn’t been changed. Sheets were stained with cigarette burn holes. The paint is flaking off of the ceiling in several places. Mirrors were nasty. The bed had one end table. I can go on but you get the idea.
