Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing major. The location is not in Portland downtown, so it requires to take the car to go to Portland downtown. The bathroom is shared with other guests, which was fine, and also part of the description, so no surprise there. This requires to be a little more flexible in terms of the timing because it might be occupied when one would actually need it.
I really liked the bed and breakfast spirit. I liked to stay in a real American home. The breakfast was included, home made, copious and very good. We can meet other guests at the breakfast table.

United StatesFeels a bit more similar to a hostel than bnb. There is only 1 bathroom for 3 rooms so that was complicated when everyone needed it in the evening / morning. (weekend trip). There are adorable cats but they whine at night. Things could be updated, like sheets and pillows. They felt quite hard and old.
Adorable exterior and cozy feel. Yummy French toast breakfast. Location is easy to get around with Uber/Lyft. Hosts are very nice.

United StatesLocation is away from most attractions but not a difficult 10-15 minute drive downtown. Some neighborhood noise. Expensive for a shared bathroom, but Portland does have many more expensive options. Dietary restrictions need to be confirmed, or be prepared to work around.
Very clean. Easy on-street parking. Comfortable bed, good shower, easy-open new bedroom windows. Plentiful breakfast, especially enjoyed yummy banana bread.

United KingdomI think there was a little confusion over breakfast, but that's not a deal breaker. I'd told the hosts in advance that I can't eat dairy. but can eat eggs. My husband also told Jim on arrival that he doesn't eat eggs. Linda kindly got me some soya milk for my cereal. On the first morning (stayed 2 nights), my husband and son were given some lovely French toast with fresh berries for breakfast. I was given 2 pieces of bread and shown where the toaster was, which was fine, but there was no jam or anything for the bread, so I had a little cereal and dry toast. Next day, 2 plates of scrambled eggs (which I can eat) and beans were given to my husband ( who doesn't eat eggs) and my son, but nothing cooked at all was offered to me. There was some jam and bread on the dresser that morning. This is not a complaint at all, merely and observation and to say that if you have any food intolerances then maybe you need to be more detailed than I was about what you can eat, as I understand it is difficult for people to totally understand. The house was near a busy road so a little noisy at times during the night.
The property was beautifully furnished and had a large, comfortable porch seating area around the outside with on street parking. Air con in the bedroom was very welcome. Hosts Linda and Jim were very charming and friendly. We had 2 double rooms, next to each other, as we travelled with our adult son, and had a separate bathroom for just the 3 of us, which worked well. Hosts Linda and Jim were on hand if needed but not obtrusive. Jim regaled us with a couple of stories which we enjoyed. As for the 2 cats mentioned on their website, we hardly saw them. I'd definitely recommend staying here. The bed was very comfortable for me. I have arthritis in one hip and usually have pain in the night. These 2 nights were the first two nights in months I actually slept pain free!! I should have asked what the mattress was.

GermanyWe stayed for four days and every day a different breakfast was prepared, all of them delicious! Nice house in a very safe and quiet location. in 2 min walk you can even take the bus for 1 $ to go downtown which was for us very convenient since parking is tremendously expensive in downtown Portland.

United StatesDidn’t realize it would have so much road noise. Close to hospital so had ambulance and sirens a couple of times. Also loud noises from car engines which made it hard to go to sleep.
Breakfast was delicious. Owners were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. Home was old, but appeared to be well maintained. Beautiful flowers and landscaping.

United StatesThe sheets, bedspread, and pillows did not look/smell clean, and I was unaware the bathroom was a shared communal bathroom for all rooms except one room with its own. Had I known, I would have pre-booked the one room with a private bathroom, but my friend would have had only access to a shared bathroom.
Breakfast was OK, and the hosts were very accommodating.
