Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Rooms are shabby Room wasn't ready at check out time There was no soap bar - had to go ask at reception breakfast is miserable There are so many great places to stay on Asilimar state beach (Pacific Gardens Inn, Andril Cottages), no need to go here

Room could have been cleaner and coffee supplies more consistent. When we got there at check-in time our room was not ready.
The bed was very comfortable; the room was spacious.

We liked everything.
Big clean room and dressing/bath area. Jorge at the desk was especially helpful. Near the beach and free parking. We recommend it for quiet nights at reasonable rates.

Bed could be a bit more comfortable. Very firm mattress.
Nice room. Walkable to town, beach & family. Very clean. Loved the fireplace and convenience of having a refrigerator & microwave in the room. Staff friendly & helpful. Quiet, was able to sleep well.

To turn on the shower was weird for me, but we figured it out. Shampoo provided is in dispenser in shower, didn't come out well, should have brought my own, I forgot. But the conditioner dispenser worked great. Also the coffee maker makes 1 cup at a time, a coffee maker with a little pot would have been nice.
Very happy with stay. Room was clean and fireplace was nice. Deer Haven is a little bit older but good, room had been upgraded, although you could see some areas of wear in the room. Frig in room worked great! Very comfortable, as we did spend some in the room relaxing. Staff was great! Most impressive was the neighborhood, very quiet and clean, no homeless in the area, we felt safe and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again, very happy overall. Also the beach is so close we spend quite a bit of time at the beach, supper cool.

Didn’t like that we had to ask for house keeping 24 hours in advance.
We liked that it was clean , quiet and we actually seen deer from our room.

The room was not as clean as it has been in the past. We’ve stayed here several times. This time, the ceramic coffee cups left for us were dirty with marks from coffee and sip marks on the rim. One of the cups was even cracked. The floor was filthy. We went to wipe up water from the shower, and the towel turned black! When we went barefoot in the room, our feet turned black from the dirty floor. Also, there used to be pretty landscaping, but now a lot of the flowers and shrubs have been removed and it looks a little Barron, like they’re either not wanting to have to keep up with landscaping or they’re redoing it.
Location. Close to beach. Microwave, fridge, and fireplace, dog friendly, good price.

Would like to have had glasses rather than plastic cups. Price for the weekend was quite expensive as opposed to the Monday night price.

Quite a bit of traffic on the adjacent street. Decor was dated.
The location was amazing. Asilomar State Beach is within walking distance. And restaurants and shops were an easy drive.

Typical water conserving shower pressure.

You can't expect great prices during peak season and the towels could be a bit better
