How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing.
Great room off Union Square downtown. Very clean and spacious room, with a clean and large bathroom. Staff were very friendly, walk-able location. We took BART from the airport and it was like a 10 minute walk from the station. Very great value, would stay there again.

Only thing I can think of is that the room and bathroom have a more old school vibe, but I would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was good but did not have many options, so I ended up going to coffee shops nearby (there are many!). Being in downtown SF is nice but has its down sides - lots of hills, people living on the streets etc.
Very comfortable in general, really silent despite noisy neighborhood, employees were all very nice. Has a peculiar style, a bit like a old hotel, but everything is new and clean (carpets are a little stained, though). Quite close to Union Square and to Chinatown. Having a water fountain in the lobby was quite convenient.

Nothing to dislike.
We loved the art deco design of the room and bathroom. The Kingsize bed was very comfortable and the room was really spacious as was the bathroom. The room was quiet, cleaned daily, coffee and tea replaced daily. There are many lovely restaurants nearby (we ate at Le Central, La Bouche and Cesario's) and had breakfast every morning at Le café de la presse. We loved the location of the hotel, the buildings in the area are beautiful, walking distance to the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero and with the help of google maps we found bus stops nearby to get us everywhere we wanted to go. Tram and street car stops also nearby. We loved San Francisco and would definitely stay in this hotel if we get to visit the city again.

Everything was very good.
A perfect place to stay in SF. It's a very convenient location, and the hotel itself is one of the best I stayed at in SF. We traveled by car, and had no problem finding a garage nearby.

The rooms size is perfect, the bathroom is big, the pillows are comfortable and it is clean. The staff allowed me to hold my luggage for the whole day after checking out.

The shower changed the water temperature by itself and it was really hard to keep the same temperature for a few minutes.

Some of the nicest staff manning an incredibly clean, well-cared for hotel. Comfortable, safe, everything you want and very centrally located in the city to most activities. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels this year and this one stands out to me as one I’d be more than happy to book again if I find my way back to SF.

Better Wifi! Also we never got the TV to work with the streaming devices.
My friend and I stayed here for a work trip, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! As two young women traveling alone, we felt extremely safe and well taken care of the entire time. The location is great, the front desk staff was warm and welcoming, and our room was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable. We truly appreciated the hospitality and will definitely be staying here again on our next trip!
