Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe floors were slightly dirty, but we brought our own slippers so it was okay.
We managed to secure free parking outside the apartment, which was slightly up the road but still visible from the apartment! The bed was comfy and clean. The laundry facilities were reasonably priced ($2 for washing and $1.50 for tumble drying); however you need to bring your own detergent. The location of the apartment is very central, right next to the Balboa Park.

United StatesIf you can’t block out the sound of planes flying overhead as they approach SD airport, this place may not be for you. If you are vacationing you probably will be out and about most of the day and night and it shouldn’t be a problem.
Unit directly across the street from Balboa Park.

United KingdomNot an issue for me as I’m used to unhoused people but something to be aware of is there are quite a few around the surrounding blocks but it’s something you can’t avoid in a lot of parts of SD and of course nothing the property can do about it.
Location is super handy for getting around - you can walk Downtown, Balboa Park, to Seaport Village, Little Italy. I needed to be close to Bankers Hill as well so location was ideal. Perfect setup for solo travel - the place would work well for a couple as well, relatively spacious with basic kitchen amenities meaning you don’t have to eat out all the time. The guys managing on site were also available to assist quickly. And you do feel safe with the security gates around the building.

United StatesThe area has a few unhoused individuals that linger around, but they mostly keep to themselves. Just remain vigilant and of course, don't leave valuables in your car.
Great central location: easy walk to Balboa Park or Little Italy and close to highway ramp. Although there is no parking included in the unit, there is ample free street parking within a block. Spacious unit for 2 people. The wide bed was a nice touch!

United StatesWish there could have been a bathroom counter, and more than one towel bar in the bathroom. Although Little Italy is only a half a mile away the return up hill walk is very strenuous.
The apartment was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Free street parking was across the street and it's located next to Balboa Park.

United StatesThere were hairs next to toilet that made me feel like place hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. Walls are thin which means you’ll hear not only the planes departing but the neighbors as well. Check out time at 10 am seems early compared to most 11 AM check out at hotels.
The proximity off the highway and to airport. The location next to Balboa. The size of the place. It’s also a short walk to little Italy. It’s an apartment style although I didn’t check if it was fully equipped.

Staff was helpful. My husband uses a walker and we had no idea that the apartment does not have an elevator, but is a walk up and we were on the 3rd floor. Staff helped us out upon arrival and when leaving. This was appreciated.

United StatesIt was somewhat clean but the furniture in there is gross. The couch in the seating area has lots of stains. I did not feel comfortable sitting on it. Also its very loud. Not due to the planes but the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. We were the third floor and could hear loud stomping that woke us up.
The location.

United StatesBasically everything. Had to walk up about 50 STEPS with my luggage and without assistance which the property does not disclose in the description. See description photos. I looked everywhere on the Booking.com listing and nowhere does it say you have to climb steps. They do not disclose this until they email you AFTER you make the non refundable booking. Communication - I asked for help days in advance to take my suitcase downstairs when I checked out. I am a single female solo traveler and taking my luggage up and down 50 steps is very difficult with my health issues. They said, sure, no problem. I reminded them the day before and again the morning of. I was told to remind them again right at checkout which I did. No one responded and no one came. I had to walk down 50 steps to go to the office for help, back up 50 steps, and back down 50 steps again, even though I’d asked for help three times. Kitchen sink was useless. See above. “Cleaning” was nonexistent. They definitely don’t change the sheets between guests. I have very short hair and there was a super long hair in my bed that was not mine. Another super long hair stuck to the side of the toilet. See photos. Location was super sketchy. Homeless people and trash all around, urine smell right outside, abandoned building just behind this one, didn’t feel safe. In the airport path so super loud airplanes. Walkable to the edge of downtown but not to any location of import. Certainly not to Little Italy or anywhere else other reviewers said. Walkable to the edge of Balboa Park but a substantial walk to get to the action (museums, gardens, zoo, etc.) Building not maintained well. See photo of broken floor on step. Paper thin walls and ceilings. I could hear everything around me, including an upstairs neighbor who sounded like s/he was marching around loudly late at night. It was beyond crazy. AWFUL pillows killed my neck. I’m going to have to pay a professional to put my neck/shoulders together again.
Not much. Decor looked as advertised. Convenient to have fridge and microwave but kitchen sink was useless. Tiny sink, no hot water, no way to dry anything, no soap.

United StatesNo elevator, so if your in a “C” apt., you are on the third floor, (A,B on 1 and 2 respectively, etc., and you don’t know your assigned apt. until your arrival or at least, I didn’t.
King size bed with great comfortable mattress. A full size living room was spacious. My apartment was very clean and the apt. looked new!! Good shower, 5 minutes from the San Diego zoo by Uber. On the corner of the biggest park in San Diego(Balboa Park).Seems to be 10 minutes from all, baseball stadium, airport, etc.
