How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Location is excellent. 15 min to Midtown by metro. 10 min to downtown by metro. 15 min to Brooklyn Dumbo area by metro. Staff is friendly. Always willing to help. Room very clean.

The kitchen cabinets could use new fronts. The decor is a bit... dated.
Excellent location. Very spacious apartment. The linens and towels were super-clean. I was not expecting it but every day there was a daily cleaning and the towels were changed. Most suites and AirBnBs do not have that, and it was a nice bonus.

Only very minor things, like hooks for towels in the bathroom. Salt, pepper and oil in the kitchen.
Location is great, the suite is spacious. Cooking facilities are useful to have. There is a supermarket close by.

Some of the appliances and furniture felt quite used, but it was not critical or even bad. Too much heating before going to bed, which can't be regulated.
The staff were quite responsive and nice. It was very warm, which is quite a lot to ask for in NYC in winter after visiting other hotels (perhaps even too warm when going to bed). Good location, subway, Chinatown and Little Italy are practically at the doorstep.

Rooms could do with a good makeover and being dusted especially under furniture.
The staff were super helpful, the location was perfect, it was a great price considering it was Christmas.

Price was high but that is NYC's fault. This was by far the most reasonably priced option during my stay and I was grateful to stay in a larger room.
The check-in was smooth and friendly, the room was spacious and the location was fantastic. Nice to have your own kitchen!

Nothing we didn’t like but would have liked a few more cooking utensils in the kitchen.
Excellent location and value for money. Near subway, supermarket and restaurants. Large apartments, perfect for family stay.

For what we paid it is expensive for nothing. But we knew that NYC was not cheap. We stayed at another hotel in NYC (due to last minute changes) almost same price with better rooms and facilities. The area in the evening is a little bit dodgy. I would be super careful for those solo travellers. During the day there were no issues at all. The communication was not great. We sent messages regarding a request, unfortunately it was left pending.
The rooms were ok, old, basic but ok.

Expect a basic apartment, no view. The street itself is not a charming street. It is exactly what we saw before booking on the website.
Staying in a specipus apartment is so comfortable in comparison to the small hotel rooms in ny. The team is helpful and nice. The location is amazing between soho, the lower east side, and East Village, which is very close to multiple subway lines.

The apartment was a bit small for 5, but manageable.

I didn’t cook in the kitchen during my stay, but there was no exhaust fan above the gas cooktop.
Great location, clean and well appointed apartment. Quiet property with very good facilities. I slept on sofa beds at five different properties in major cities across the US, including this one and my Off SoHo Suites bed was the most comfortable of the five, despite the property being the oldest of the five.

A little bit noisy, but it is central Manhattan.
Great location, a short walk to multiple subway stations. Friendly front desk staff - thanks for the early check-in. Great value and a well equipped kitchen.
