Totally overpriced and more 4 star then 5. Too far from Santa Monica or the beach - not beachfront

A huge mix up with the booking and feel we were charged far too much by Booking.com but the hotel couldn’t do anything about the price they said. (They were helpful in other ways but left us feeling overcharged) Not sure we got the ocean suite that we had booked - didn’t look like the pictures online. Unfortunately the weather was not playing fair either and the view to the ocean was almost always shrouded in mist. (Not a reflection on the hotel just a disappointment when we’d booked an ocean view).

The hotel is stylishly renovated and clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Pool area was well stocked with beds and towels and the water was warm. The position facing the ocean was lovely and a relatively easy walk into the shops, bars and restaurants of Santa Monica.

Hidden fees - resort fee, “including breakfast” etc.

The property was at good location. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Got an room update, but the room was quite smaller than booked room, but i had ocean view. Big minuses : you cant pay for breakfast/dinner etc with money. Next big minus - “breakfast included” means 30 dollars per person, not included!! We asked about it every day and staff was “yeah no problem” and when we checked out we had to pay over 600 dollars more! This is crazy! I told the lady at receptionist that and we got discount about 100 dollars. Next BIG minus : for every night there is a resort fee 50 dollars. This was so unpleasent surprise. So in total: staff was amazing, nice and friendly. But our stay was 1000 per night and for this money, i guess you will get better stay. Staff is only reason to go there :)

The carpeted floor in the room makes the air stuffy uncomfortable to breathe.

The bathroom in the room had no countertop space. The room didn’t have a desk or a vanity. The layout of the room was strange. The room was still nice, but these things would have made it perfect.

The only thing I would of liked would have been more access to ice. An ice machine available to guest would have been great. I had to call room service everytime I needed more ice, lol! Other than that, I love this hotel.

I really loved the furnishings in the room. Everything was so clean and beautiful. The ocean was right across the street which gave the hotel such a beautiful setting which complimented the ambiance.

Floor squeaks really loud and is uneven. Back alley behind hotel is dirty. There's no shower door. The air conditioner is really noisy. Walls are thin and can hear neighbors. Floor pattern and wall design made me dizzy.

Great location in Santa Monica really busy and quick access to the downtown area.

I'd like to highlight 2 negative experiences that we had. we're traveling with our toddler (2 yo), and I booked 1 room for 3 people (2 adults and 1 child), I specifically choose Oceana because I saw that the room was much bigger than other properties and when I booked, I sent a message asking for a rollaway bed, the message was never answered and upon check in they let us know that there was a 100 usd fee per night for the rollaway bed. The other experience is that we were accommodated in a room that were accessible through a flight of stairs, so we literally had to carry the stroller every time we left and arrived in our room. It's a pretty expensive hotel to not pay attention to this kind of details, plus the service at the restaurant was veeery slow.

room is amazing, the room is big, clear and new. the property is well maintained and beautiful. this is definitely a plus and exceeded our expectations. the location is also very good, although is not close to the pier and more touristic attractions, we loved it as it was less crowded and still 10/15 min walking distance from everything.

since extensive refurbishment the prices are astronomical and therefore I believe not worth it.I’ve stayed in this hotel in its former days over many years and am disappointed with its transformation.
