The oceanfront rooms are the most charming: the sound of the waves and the balcony to sit and enjoy the views make all the difference. On the other hand, the rooms that don’t face the ocean —like the one we stayed in— overlook the parking lot and lack any real appeal. In addition, the facilities showed signs of wear and gave the impression that maintenance is somewhat limited.

The Ocean Surf Resort is very well located, just a short walk from downtown Montauk and right in front of a beautiful beach. It’s also close to restaurants, shops, and cafés, which makes it very convenient. The staff is friendly and attentive, which is much appreciated.

We probably had the worst room in the place as i think it might have been the only one that faced the car park rather than the ocean. It was tired and smelt a bit dampt in the bathroom - which was pretty pokey. The shower wasn't great either. The wifi was terrible and kept dropping out all the time.

Room was a decent size, there was a microwave, crockery and cuttlery and a filter coffee machine and a decent sized fridge which was good and the beds were comfortable. The pool was great for the kids. The main plus point of this hotel though was the situation. It was in the town within a few minutes walk of all the lovely shops, cafes and restaurants of Montauk and literally right on the beach. This was amazing!

It looks like half the bathroom was renovated, in around the bath has been done up but the floor tiles and tiles on wall around sink need replacing. They actually make the whole room look dated when in fact it is not. There were three of us in the room but they only give you two beach towels and there are only two chairs on the balcony.

The location was amazing. We were In room 2 on the second floor overlooking the ocean. The hotel itself is in the town and walking distance to restaurants and shops etc. the hotel is right on the beach and wonderful for a swim or just to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. We could see other guests use the hotels bbq and benches and it looked great.

Location was excellent but room needs some serious upgrading. Balcony felt very on top of each other and was very shabby (also a really loud air conditioner made it hard to hear the sea). The bed was really uncomfortable and the listing said a king sized futon but it was a smell couch. The location is incredible but for the cost you have better options in the area. If they do some renovations I would gladly come back. Staff were really nice

Bad smell in our room of mildew. Futon bed was awful. We requested a room for 4, but only one person could sleep on the futon, very uncomfortable. Outdated grounds. Loud at night.

One of the full-size beds wasn’t very comfortable.

The view of the ocean was unbeatable. We saw whales right off the beach and it was conveniently located close to town as well. Could walk to town to shop and for all meals.  It was really nice to have beach umbrellas and chairs that we could use.

However, the place could use some refurbishment, both the rooms and the pool area, where our son was seriously injured due to nails sticking out of the decking.

The hotel’s location is fantastic, right by the sea, and we enjoyed watching dolphins while having breakfast. We liked the sun loungers and the pool. The staff were very friendly.

I was expecting chair and umbrella service ....what I didn't realize is that they provide lounge chairs and umbrellas but they don't set you up on the beach the way they do next door at the Blue (who I understand is under the same ownership). I also wasn't expecting the $35 per day additional charge to park my car which wasn't included when I booked but did show up when I received the property's confirmation letter.

I got only 1 issue ,bathroom. It’s so small . Shower curtain basically sticks to your body during shower. Doors open to the inside of bathroom and you need to use some acrobatic moves to shut the door. Bathroom needs some updating.its not comfortable for daily use for one person ( for family of 3 or more it’s challenging) . At least think about door situation, doesn’t make any practical sense.

Cons: Slippery bathtub with no bar to hold onto. Very nervous I was going to slip! At least get a tub mat. No towel hook in the bathroom or on the door. There were 2 lamps in my room & only 1 worked. Bed was hard.

Pros: Very friendly helpful staff. Ann in the office was a pleasure! She helped me to pre-book next year. The location was ideal to the ocean & town. The room was clean & lots of room for 1 person. It wasn't a cramped small room. They supplied beach towels & chairs.

I didn’t need the staff after hours, but I like when the desk is 24 hours staffed. My stay was early June, so maybe that’s why it wasn’t.

I loved the ocean view, which I believe all rooms have. I loved access to the beach right from the pool/deck area. I loved some parking spaces were covered. And I loved that I had my own chairs on the deck outside the room’s sliding doors. I also loved my room had a fridge.
