The parking lot can get full quickly. I did not have a problem with this, however some might, there are some people sitting in their cars smoking. This is because everyone is truly respecting the non-smoking status of the motel.

I liked the upgrades Motel 6 has done! It is a great improvement. Though still a basic room, it felt very clean. There were no pests or anything dirty. The bed was comfortable with no stains or holes. The room did not smell stale or like smoke. No overly loud noises or people. There are people about, but mostly in their cars. No sketchy people hanging out or around as some other motels might allow.

The cleaning seemed to be pretty lax. I found a used toothbrush behind the towels on the shelf in the bathroom. There was also a used, damp towel on the towel rack that hadn't been removed. It seemed the cleaning crew had just missed this obvious stuff which is a bit weird. I was on the second floor, and the floor vibrated when people walked by with heavy footsteps on the walkway outside, or when the housekeeping staff rolled their cleaning cart past. The vibration was quite strong; at first I thought someone was pounding on the ceiling of the room below. It wasn't a huge deal but rather jarring. There is no power outlet by the desk which is strange. The only outlets were over at the bedside table. Biggest downside for me was the location, although of course this isn't the fault of the staff; it's just something to be aware of. The motel is out in the suburbs and the location is not walkable at all. There's a 7-11 and Waffle House right next door, and a couple other random businesses a block or so away, but to get anywhere else you need to walk 20+ minutes and/or take a 20+ minute bus ride and/or a 20+ minute train ride . This probably wouldn't be an issue if you had a car, but I didn't. (I came for the eclipse and my original lodging reservation got canceled, so I had to scramble for a place at the last minute.) Overall I was satisfied since I got the room on short notice.

The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The room had a fridge and microwave which were very handy. It was across the street from 7-11 which was convenient for grabbing necessities. The motel has a laundry room although I didn't need to use it. There is a bus stop right outside which can connect you to downtown Dallas. Also there is a pretty nice park about a 5-10 minute walk away down a back street. Perfect for viewing solar eclipses. :-)

Hotel cancelled our reservation because we arrived late and we didn't see messages from the hotel while we were driving. So, check in took so long and that's especially not good considering the "not feeling safe neighborhood". It tells something when the receptionist sits behind a high security, bulletproof looking window. You don't have a good night sleep when in the middle of the night some guy started punching and kicking the next door and yelled for half an hour before a police officer intervenes.
