Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThere was a ongoing renovation on the hotel. The kids Club was closed during all our stay. On the day our arrival, the restaurant was closed for dinner. In the firepit, only drinks were being served. On the second day, it was raining, windy and cold, but breakfast was served only outdoors anyway, with no option to sitting indoor.

United StatesCheck-in was a mess. Person didn’t know what was going on or even where our room was! Paid for an extra day so we could check in earlier. As we were rushing to a wedding. Front desk had no idea of this. Room was 10-12 minutes from Check-in. Was no car to take us up to our room. So we had to schlep up many stairs to high room. Bellman and manager helped with luggage. Room was 85 degrees. My husband had called the day before to tell them all our details and timing but no-one told housekeeping. So we arrived at a boiling suite and got ready in sweltering heat. Took several hours to cool down . Assistant Manager begrudgingly helped with ac as the temp gauge was not working. Kept going up. For almost $2000 a day, the ac issue and his attitude was surprising and very disappointing- he was in such a rush to leave- didn’t really care about the problem. We also asked for an umbrella for our patio as it was really hot, but couldn’t get one. Plus, outdoor pool wasn’t open -staff told us the permit was delayed. Also surprising for summer. Besides housekeeping which was responsive and courteous, service was like a 2-star hotel or what you’d get at a motel. Went for wedding brunch at the Montauk Yacht Club. As we were leaving and about to call a cab, one of their staff asked us where we were going, and spontaneously offered to drive us back to Guerney. Now that’s service!
Spacious suite; lovely view of ocean Housekeeping - very helpful

United StatesYou can't go from your room to restaurant, spa, outdoor pool or indoor pool without going outside. Whilst this may be no issue in the summer at this time of year it was cold outside. Went to indoor pool, has to go there dressed, change to swimsuit, and change back at indoor pool. When I was returning it had started raining. Front desk gave me an umbrella (also supplied to each room). I have a walking disability but had zero accommodation. To go to the restaurant I has to walk a distance downstairs. On the way back I had to trek upstairs. Parking forced me to trek upstairs after I parked. Very steep hills to negotiate. VERY steep hills.I was in a 600 number room. You have to do stairs. Place is not handicapped friendly. If you have walking issues do not stay here. Restaurant is way overpriced. I had the haddock and the portion was barely enough to make a sandwich. Wine was terribly over priced. Didnt order a side as they said it included fingerling potatoes. I got 3 potatoes about as big as my thumb. That's compared to Manhattan prices. They gave you a bottle of Prosecco in your room that was horrible. Only good if you have no taste buds and only want to get drunk. If they spent $5 more it could have been decent. I would have appreciated if they didn't give me that bottle. I went to bar by fireplace. Bartender had to look up recipe for Manhattan. It was half a drink. Maybe 4 shots of liquor. Charged me $22. I ordered the same from a waiter and it cost $20 for 3 times the drink. I wouldn't stay there again unless, They have nore accommodation for handicapped. They gave decent portions in the restaurants. They standardized they drink prices. Not a good experience.
The staff are great. Rooms are very clean.

United StatesI blame it on summer just beginning but lots of quirks that need to be worked out. Wait times on requests too long given the rate paid. First world issues so not the end of the world. Otherwise no real complaints.
You’re paying for location and beach access. Great food. Nice and quiet at night.

GreeceRoom was not refurbished before season opening (dirt on walls). Decoration was plain. Service poor. Most of the rooms located behind the tall main building blocking the view to the ocean and in fact in front of the parking lot (catastrophic architectural lay out). We chose Gurney’s Montauk so that we could take advantage of the beach club and relax there but the beach club was under construction without notice. Why pay for Gurney’s then, and not stay in a more value for money property? The parking is complimentary but it is valet so you have to tip every time, which comes more expensive. We ran out of petty cash to tip the valet parking service (in Europe we use credit and don’t carry all that cash), so we offered the reception credit in exchange for cash. They couldn’t do that (like, for example, they offered in Mercer hotel NY) and told us to use the cash dispenser which was OUT OF ORDER. One time, we came back to the room at 16:00 and it was not serviced yet. And i could go on forever. It was clean, though…
Access to the beach (but the beach club was mot ready and there were construction workers and machines so we couldn’t take benefit). Oats & raisin cookie at cafe…

United StatesThe igloo experience was a huge disappointment especially after being so expensive and not being able to get out “booking fee” back when we wanted to use indoor restaurant instead even though the waitress was extremely annoyed that she had to serve us in the igloo so i don’t know why we had to go in there instead of switch to indoor restaurant. After the heater in igloo not working in the slightest bit and gave off zero heat. Was literally cold to the touch, we just ordered appetizers and drinks and the had to proceed to go into the indoor restaurant anyway and actually have dinner. Once we said the heat wasn’t working and we preferred to be inside we should have been given back our igloo booking fee or whatever fee you called it and we Could have stayed inside. There was not one other igloo occupied or anytime waiting for one so that was a turn off that was not an option for us. We sent a fortune there on igloo, restaurant and one bedroom suite. Not sure i would return due to that. It was a turn off for my entire party.
The woman at the front desk checking us in was a sweetheart and very helpful. When we realized our room was on the complete opposite side of property and we would have to drive in the snow to get to dinner in hotel she very nicely accommodated us to a closer room of same value. She was sweet. I wish i knew her name

IsraelThe first night we spent in an oceanview room, which was right above the main parking lot, somewhat noisy, with very limited view of the ocean. In our opinion, these room do not justify a stay at the hotel (and the price), despite all the good things above.
Overall, our experience at the hotel was fantastic. We spent 3 night in total, 2 in an oceanfront room and 1 in an ocean view room. The Oceanfront rooms (we stayed at the 3 story building on the east side) were absolutely fantastic. Great views of the ocean, beach access, quiet, clean and comfortable bed and room. We had a great relaxing time in this room and it was well worth the price. We had great runs and walks on the beach which is miles long ini each direction. The fitness center was clean, spacious and functional. We had some nice dinners and lunches (some good vegan and gluten free options too) at the restaurants and around the fire pit at night (Thanks Rafael - you're the best). Overall the staff at the hotel was nice, and professional and help accomodate us when necessary.
