How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was a big issue with our reservation. I reserved my room back in May (I believe). I received a confirmation of my reservation, several emails shortly before my arrival, as well as a text all welcoming me and "looking forward" to my stay. The morning of my trip, I received a phonecall from someone at Microtel asking if I was still coming. I reassured the associate that I was indeed coming and an approximate time of arrival. Later in the afternoon, while on route, I realized that I was not going to arrive at the time I shared earlier so I called Microtel just to let them know that I was still coming but was behind a few hours. I was told that I did not have a reservation. When I said that I have confirmation, emails, and a text to say differently, they eventually "found" my reservation, and assured me not to worry. Shortly after that, I received a call saying that my room with 2 queen beds was being changed to a suite w/queen bed, fold out couch, and roll-in cot. This was not what I asked for due to the party I was with. When I arrived, I was told that was what I was switched to but when I started to speak up about my concern, a very nice gentleman/customer in line behind me gave up his 2 bed room and traded with us. Apparently, they were making room for the National Guard. I am usually more understanding but this was going to be an exhausting weekend and we were all hoping for a good night's rest. Anyway, all was well, so we thought. The clerk at the desk very kindly went up to check that our room was ready and then we were checked in. Around 10pm, while in bed, we received a call from the desk asking if we were still staying in the room we were given and how long. I am really not sure what happened in all of this; why what I reserved several months ago was a problem, but, the whole "transaction" was very frustrating and I was left with no confidence that I had a room.
The room was clean, comfortable, and when we asked for a few extra things like towels and a toothbrush, the staff was very happy and helpful! Friendly staff at breakfast and cared to have a wide variety of foods, well stocked, for breakfast! Even nice and early as many people were leaving early for an event.

There was nothing we didn’t like!
We liked everything about the property. Debra (the manager) was awesome at check in and answered all of my silly questions. This place looks as great inside as it does on the outside. Very clean, from the lobby to the rooms. 12/10 would stay here again. Great value.

The blankets on the bed were too short. They barely covered us up. And the choices for breakfast were lacking. Only fruit was apples and they were green. Everything was prepackaged and nothing was fresh. The coffee was okay and it was nice that it was available anytime but didn't have much flavor and the creamers were not real. I would stay again with lower expectations and hopefully a lower price.
The motel was very clean and comfortable. The shower was nice and our room was clean and comfortable.

We were in the area for a wedding, had some family driving through the night, and arrived early morning and the outstanding staff and housekeeping got them a room early. So remember to tip them as they don't have to do those things, I highly recommend this hotel.
