Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe carpet in the room felt oily and was hard packed. Left a film on my feet and shoes

JapanI think this hotel is doing a commendable job, especially given the housing crisis in Portland. However, there are a couple of things that could be improved: Towel Sanitation – I’m not asking for brand-new towels, but it would be great if the existing ones could be sanitized more thoroughly, perhaps with bleach occasionally, to help eliminate lingering smells. AC Cleaning – I understand that cleaning the air conditioning system can be costly, but the moldy odor coming from the unit affected my first impression when entering the room. That said, I really like this hotel and look forward to trying the soaking pool on my next visit!
It is located alongside Burnside, the main street in downtown. I also liked the quirky, charming, and distinctly Portland vibe of this hotel. The receptionists are also very kind.

United StatesThere was a bit of street noise, and Some noise from other Guests nearby. The building was over 100 years ago so it’s to be expected.
Front Desk staff was very nice, Friendly. also had a great time at the hot tub, and was open plenty late. Enjoyed the free coffee and the little lobby area upon check out.

United StatesThe room was small but amenable but there was a definite musty smell that seemed to be covered up wish some sort of heavy air freshener. It caused us to find a way to open the window a bit by putting a travel size shampoo bottle under the bottom of the window. Nice thing was we could get the old windows to open.
Breakfast and staff were original and delightful with enjoyable background music and l9vely landscaped patio to watch the many passersby and birds.

United StatesWould have liked a small fridge in the room for left overs. But, definitely not a deal breaker. WiFi isn’t great, but good enough to listen to an audiobook to fall asleep.
The hotel vibe is interesting and fun, as is the surrounding blocks. The location was perfect for walking to good food and not too far to walk to the Portland Market. Parking garage was close and reasonably priced. The soaking pool in the hotel was absolutely fabulous and open late. The shared bathroom was clean and always available.

United StatesIt's part of the charm of the hotel, since it's an older building, but I'm not a fan of the shared bathroom.

United StatesThe poor lighting! I had to use my phone light to see the numers on the door. I couldn't see if someone was in the common bathroom as it was too dark to see the "vacant" on the lock. Totally unable to read in the room.
The unexpected uniqueness. The friendly and attentive staff. How clean everything was.

United StatesThis was our 4th stay in the last 5 years. We liked our last room #305, and will request it again when we return next fall '24. I have to say that the soaking pool in the basement is our favorite. Our last day we tried your breakfast burrito, which we split because we're not big breakfast eaters and it was great.

United StatesI wasn’t super excited about communal bathrooms just due to the nature of other people (not flushing toilets and leaving water on the floor). I would recommend getting some shower sandals if you get a queen room. On our first night after we were awake for almost 20 hours our next door neighbors were sloppy drunk and they unfortunately had the “keep on knocking” room which apparently applied to our room too… They were also yelling and I think got locked out. Thankfully there were earplugs provided in the side table but I am wondering if that happens a lot.
Historical building, restaurant was good and I loved the vibe of the hotel. When I booked I thought only queen sized rooms were available but would have booked a king suite. Very close to the venue we were attending, but did not hear the music from the other 2 nights that the ballroom had shows so my wife and I slept pretty well.

United StatesWhen we checked in, we were told that we weren’t in the system. We had pre-booked this trip weeks in advance. I felt like I was being talked down to when they asked if we were sure that we had the right hotel (when, like I said, I had planned this out weeks in advance). Furthermore, when my partner and I went to the restaurant, the staff member who served us had a very bad attitude, and he seemed annoyed that we were there, even though we were very polite and tipped well.
The atmosphere was very cool, I loved how each room had a different theme based off artists who previously performed there.

United States- I know it said that they offered two types of parking. I didn't see that it said anywhere that the parking garage had to be paid separately, I ended up parking my car where they suggested that ended up being $20+ a night and I don't know if this is new, but DT Portland is kind of on the rougher side right now, so I didn't feel safe leaving my car on the streets so paying the 20+ was the only options.
- Its close to everything, its in the heart of Downtown Portland. I recommend the hotel because it saved us a lot of driving time.
