Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

The property is so beautiful I loved the colors everything about it was perfect. 10/10 it’s an amazing place. The couch is incredible it’s a comfortable place as well.

Maybe supply a tea towel for drying dishes??
No breakfast self contained airb&b. Property was Located a distance from main city centre but access to blue line rail for commuting was within walking distance.

Would like a hair dryer in the bathroom. Bedding options: light-weight blankets.
Cute street in Logan Square neighborhood. Located within an easy walk to coffee shops. Hosts are very responsive. Coach House is very clean, quiet, private and comfortable. Large living area with TV, large comfortable sofa, refrigerator and bonus washer/dryer. Great space for either a short or long stay.

The water pressure in the bathroom could have been better. There was also a very unpleasant smell in the sunroom.

Train stations are about 12-13 min walk
The place was absolutely spotless and had amazing decor. It had a working kitchen setup with all the amenities. It even has a washing machine . The host was amazing and ready to attend to any needs .

It smelled of gas which we worried a little bit about. It is quite dark. The water pressure is very bad in the shower. The room doesn’t get good air and the industrial strength fan is way too powerful to be nice and way too loud. Also the beds were European style so there was no top sheet. So o was either sweating under the duvet or totally exposed, which I didn’t like because of the fan that hit my legs.
We loved the location and that there was somewhere to sit outdoors. It was clean and some nice things were considered like a water purifier and a steam iron. The host dropped off bedding for the pull out couch for my son. He had a very good sleep right under the A/C :)

The shower water pressure. Air conditioning broke the first day but host replaced it swiftly the second day. Streaming services sometimes weren’t available because of other users
The location was nice. Host was responsive to any problems. Beds were comfy. Host offered suggestions for food and transportation to different locations.

It was in the back of a house down a dark ally and it felt unsafe and sketchy... The AC unit didn't work and we had to leave early because we couldn't sleep due to the heat.
The location was very good.

When you see the photos of the property it's actually not really where you’ll stay, they've been modified (brightness +++) the place is dark, you don't really have any windows, and you're at the back of the owner's house (so the front house shown in Booking is their house...). You don’t see how is the real entrance because yeah, it’s way less nice (the owners are not completely honest about this point). You pass through a little street on the side of their house and I felt a bit like I was in a rat hole. The entrance of the actual flat is a bit dilapidated and there's no door to the bedroom (a sort of sliding wooden panel). The flat is cold and you only have a boiler that makes a crazy noise all the time. The shower gives a fine trickle of water and has no pressure…
The bed is comfortable, and Logan Square is nice (at 15-20’ by walk though)

Check out was at 10am. There was an over abundance of plug-ins and odor reducing products. Gave me a headache. There was no lighting in the alleyway which was hard to navigate in the dark. The locks on the doors have seen better days. It was difficult to lock the place up, especially at night when there were no lights.

Some improvements needed - entry stairs are a little precarious, entryway could be spruced up, tub is a bit wobbly, the path to carriage house is not well lit at night.

I didn’t like the smelled very bad when I first enter the house. I didn’t like the tiny bathtub. I also had trouble with plugging in my charger in the electric outlets. They were too old and sunken inside the wall.
I liked the size of the house and the decor. Cleanliness and AC were assets. Owners were easy to contact and took care of what I asked them for.
