How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Small breakfast room. Hotel is understaffed and breakfast time showed it. The breakfast staff were frustrated and didn’t keep up with demand. A bigger eating space is needed.

Nothing. The food was great for breakfast and great location!
Maria was absolutely amazing and helped me so much. I had some issues with my booking and she helped me for 2hrs straight until we got my booking all figured out. She deserves raise even though she has only be there for 2 weeks. Keep her!! Wonderful woman and hard worker

We had a two queen beds room, which expects multiple people and not necessary very close to each other, but the bathroom setup doesn't fit in this expectation, as the bathroom sink is located in the room itself (outside of the bathroom), so there is no minimal hygiene privacy. The room is pretty old, has that old smell, also small. Bed sheets were dirty: one sheet had a footprints and pillow covers had another way of dirtiness. The only window in the room is facing a walkway, where all the people walk and talk and can see everything in the room. So it is definitely not the best room we've stayed.
The location is really great for things in Carlsbad: walking distance to the beach, and within 15 mins reach all the places which could be needed while staying in Carlsbad, very close from San Diego airport and downtown as well. Breakfast is good as well, several options, fresh fruits, cheese, dairy. Also the breakfast room is pretty roomy area near the reception, so overall the breakfast worth it's value. There is plenty of outdoor parking.

The overall environment was quite average. The sound insulation was very poor, and there was a strong musty smell in the room. The hotel is very close to the highway, so the traffic noise was loud. Breakfast was okay, just a standard basic breakfast.
The front desk staff were relatively friendly. Overall, it was acceptable for the price.

I don’t like when the doors open to an outside space and I prefer Hotels where the doors open to an inside corridor, but I know you can’t have that all the time and it was fine because I had two other people with me, but if I were alone, I would’ve rebooked another hotel.
It was easy to find.

Our stay was pleasant and had no issues.

Unfortunately our room on the 3rd floor was very close to the freeway, which is quite noisy.

The property is dated, we had ants in our bathroom and on our first breakfast meal a homeless man walked right in. We noticed there was no one at the front desk. We had to find a staffer to let them know that a homeless man had walked in and was in the food area. We didn’t mind if they gave him food but asked for him to be escorted out as there were families with children having breakfast.
The property is in a great location. It sits right off the freeway, close to the beach and located near grocery stores and fast food type places to eat.

The room felt humid. Even after turning on the a/c, it was almost musty.
