Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe pictures are of *all* the "apartments"- when only a few of them actually are of the basement place we rented. Most are of the other areas of the house. I had no idea we were going down an awkward side door into a dungeon-like, super old, unfinished-looking, poorly-lit basement common area. The "common area" reeked of natural gas from time to time, which was a little disturbing. It kind of took me by surprise, and my kids were a little scared. It was a bit better once we got in the actual place. There were several fairly large spiders, the bathroom (not pictured for a reason) seems like it was squeezed in as an afterthought. It's just a much older house, without doing a complete renovation I'm not sure what they could do about it. I do wish I'd known I was going down into the basement, though- I would have rented the upstairs. The people upstairs weren't super loud, but they did wake us up at night several times just naturally from getting up and moving around.
They had yogurt in the fridge and bagels/bread to use for breakfast, along with milk and cereal options. That was really wonderful and helpful! There were two extra mattresses that we could use on the floor for extra people. My kids were fine with that.

United StatesPlease be aware that the bathroom is shared with other guests.
The place was exceptionally clean. The hostess made homemade cookies and left them with the breakfast items. The place was very quiet at night in a safe neighborhood.

United StatesIncredibly kind hosts and they provide breakfast. Cozy place to stay for the night! You may potentially be sharing the space with other guests (shared bathroom and kitchen) so keep that in mind if that’s not your thing. We ended up being the only guests of the night though!

United StatesWe were missing information - I recommend owners to print paper with all information visitors need to know - it will be easier for both. 😊 The message wasn't enough.
We spent there only few hours, but it was cozy. Finding the small gift was so lovely.

United StatesThe apartment we stayed, it's located at the semi-basement. Guests must enter the apartment door through a steep stair and lundry facilities at the house side-door without a enough lighting. It's not expected as a regular apartment room. Suggest make the access path to the room more bright and organized.
It's Airbnb type of setup. We stayed one night to connect our 1 week YellowStone camping vacation. The accomerdation we booked is an apartment with 2 bedrooms kitchen. Everything is functioning well, Well prepared breakfast basket and bath towel. It's worth the money.

United StatesThe breakfast choices are limited (e.g. no "real" coffee, just instant Folgers). Careful: Do not confuse this place with the Three Bears LODGE in West Yellowstone, this one is another hour or more away from the park.
The place was clean and comfortable. Check in and communicating with the owners was smooth. Definitely a good value. They have cats (a plus in my book, but you should know this in case you are allergic. )

United KingdomI prefer a private bathroom, but for the price, it was very good. The mistake I made was to park directly outside the house. This was under a tree which was inhabited by birds, and the tree was one of the sort that spits. The car acquired a lot of dirt, so just park a few yards up the road and you'll be fine.
The historic property was quaint and homely. I had a quiet comfortable night. A lovely touch was the provision of M&M chocolates. The kitchen facilities were excellent and I used the microwave to heat a ready meal. There were plenty of USB sockets either side of the bed.
