How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

I was charged $50 twice for a security deposit because I booked through a 3rd party and the deposit hasn't been returned yet. The dryer didn't dry our clothes after $4. We ended up going to the laundromat next door and it dried in one cycle. No elevator, we were on the 3rd floor. Older building.

Hi Neil, firstly whenever you check-in to a hotel if there's something not right basic thing to do is to let the hotel know about it and see if they fix it. You did not say anything during your stay, we would have happily canceled your reservation and refunded you if you let us know once you checked in. You never did any of those and calling us rubbish without having basic knowledge about a refund processing timeline tells us what to take from your review. We have processed your deposit refund on your check out date 8/20/2025 at 11.42am and it is your bank that's taking long time to process it. Please do not accuse anyone without knowing the facts. I would have uploaded the screenshot of processed refund of it allows me, unfortunately booking.com review doesn't give us that ability. Thanks, Quality Inn

Verified reviewThe facility itself is totally fine for overnight stay, room and breakfast was fine, especially for the price. But I will never stay there again because of terrible employees and how they treated my family.
I feel like they are running some kind of extortion scheme there. I was accused of lying (!) that I paid for my room on booking.com the night before check-in. I use this website longer than I can remember and NEVER encountered anything like that. All transactions are undeniable and have receipt and confirmation numbers from booking. Employee insisted that he does not see the payment because it's a third party reservation. his attitude was the worst, he was not going to allow me to get the room I fully paid for almost 24 hours ago! I threatened to call the police intending to show them all confirmations and receipts from booking.com and my bank. My disabled 6yo child was having a tantrum on the floor over not having a room for no reason, she travels with me all the time and knows that it's NEVER happened before. but nobody cared. He said that it's my problem that they don't see the payment and I should call booking RIGHT now, from the lobby. He spoke on the phone with a manager but I did not understand anything because he spoke in his native language. other guests were passing lobby and I felt very embarrassed. looks like it's a planned attempt to double dip counting on the fact that guest is tired and will just pay again on a spot. Eventually he gave me the keys but never apologized. I am expecting my $50 safety deposit to be fully returned to me. TV had a crack on its screen but it was not important since channels were still displaying and watching TV was not a priority. Ants were running behind the chest of drawers - I notice only because my daughter threw the iPad there and I had to get it.
Hi Kate, firstly i feel bad to respond here as your daughter's condition is being mentioned. But unfortunately i dont have any other option due to your accusations, i don't know how do you expect to get a room without a payment confirmation by the hotel ? Do you take groceries at Walmart after the payment was processed successfully or do you say that i inserted my card in the terminal and if it declines i dont care and leave ? Our employee clearly told you we dont see the payment information, and due to your daughter's condition he asked you to pay with your card and if we receive the payment from Booking.com we would refund you one of the payment. So that you can get the room keys and don't have to wait for the confirmation as this is going to take time for the manager to look into it and call Booking.com Customer Service if necessary. But you threatened us to call cops as if we're trying to steal your money, if it wasn't for your daughter we would have canceled your reservation and denied you a room as we don't want unreasonable guests. I was talking to the employee at the front desk and once i heard your daughter crying i asked the employee to directly give you the room keys even before we got the payment so that your daughter doesn’t feel any more discomfort. And the screen of the tv was broken when your daughter threw the ipad that landed at the desk underneath the tv. And you said that all Booking.com transactions are undeniable, i don't know what do you know about how these transactions take place but you keep talking like you know everything. Recently there're some payment issues with Booking.com which can happen with any ota that might be the reason for this. If you are so truthful person please call the hotel and pay for the broken TV. Once again we were trying to help you and your daughter to not have any inconvenience but you have made everything complicated. Thanks, Quality Inn

Verified reviewThe hotel was clean and the rooms had good amenities. It was easy to navigate to in the car and easy to park.
The first room we were allocated had not been cleaned. We were given another room and it was damp smelling. At breakfast the man on the desk watched everyone very carefully. It felt quite unnerving to be watched while eating breakfast. They also take $50 upfront and it takes 3-5 working days to be paid back onto your card. That’s the first time we have had that in the hotels we have stayed in.
