How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewClean, room was nice, staff was friendly
The only downside was that we got stuck in the parking lot because our parking ticket wasn’t working. we ended up having to pay $15 for parking in order to get out, even though we had gotten our ticket validated in the hotel. We tried calling for help but nobody answered. Later, when we returned, The hotel said they couldn’t refund us. Not a huge deal, but we were in a hurry that morning so it was a little annoying.

Verified reviewWe flew in for a concert, our room was not ready when we arrived for checkin (wasn’t ready for over an hour and a half), we ended up in 2 full sized beds instead of the king we reserved - so that we could change and leave for the concert (which we left later than we wanted to due to this). We were given “breakfast vouchers” for 6:30 the next morning, but no breakfast was ready @6:30 and we had to leave to the airport. They were completely unprepared for the weekend (it caught them off-guard)!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, especially during a weekend that should have been exciting and stress-free. We apologize for the delay at check-in and the unexpected room change. I understand how frustrating it must have been to alter your plans, especially when you were on a schedule for the concert. We're also sorry breakfast was not ready as promised—this is not the standard we aim to deliver. We clearly fell short in preparing for a busy weekend, and we’re actively addressing the issues you mentioned to prevent similar experiences in the future. Your feedback is invaluable, and we hope you’ll consider giving us another opportunity to provide the stay you originally expected. Warm regards, Omar Vega Front Office Manager DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Midtown

Verified reviewVery nice and clean
I did not like the fact, then it said free breakfast vouchers, and the breakfast was priced way too high. We still had to pay the difference of the price of the food that didn't make any sense.Whatsoever i also expected to have a double room, not having the couch facing the bed. That was odd
Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the cleanliness of our property—we’re glad that aspect met your expectations. I’m sorry to hear that the breakfast experience and room layout did not meet yours. We understand how confusing and frustrating it can be when there’s a disconnect between what’s advertised and what’s offered. We’ll be reviewing our communication around the breakfast vouchers to make sure it’s clear, and I’ve also shared your comments about the room configuration with our team for future improvements. We truly appreciate your input—it helps us create a better experience for all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a more seamless stay. Maybe checking the pool, my daughter got stung by a bee,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found our property to be a nice, quiet place to relax. We appreciate your suggestion about offering a continental breakfast and will certainly take that into consideration as we continue to improve our guest experience. I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter getting stung by a bee near the pool, that’s definitely not the kind of memory we want our guests to leave with. We'll make sure our team takes extra care in checking the pool area more frequently moving forward. We hope to welcome you and your family back again soon for an even better stay. Verified reviewThe location was great, with being so close to the hospital. The beds were incredibly comfortable and very clean. The staff was friendly and I appreciated the free parking lot.
The pool was empty when we arrived, the listing specifically stated the pool is open. I usually always call beforehand to double-check that the pool is open but was overwhelmed and just trusted the listing. I'm super disappointed. I was traveling alone with 2 young kids in Phoenix, Arizona to visit my dad at St. Joseph's hospital (he is in long-term care currently). The hotel having a pool is always one of my top criteria for booking the room. So, to find out that the pool was closed after spending the last few hours hanging out in a hospital was incredibly disappointing. There was also construction going on throughout the entire area, from the lobby to my room, and our door stuck really bad.

Everything outside of the room is in disarray. The doors stick bad and are loud, the hotel under total reconstruction. Price should have been cheaper for the state of the hotel.

Verified reviewPool and jacuzzi were closed. No signage for for ice machines, when we found them they were broken on multiple floors. The bar wasn't open on Friday and Saturday night. The restaurant was closed the whole stay. They charged $10 for breakfast which was nothing but a typical crappy Comfort/Hampton Inn breakfast. I requested an accessible room but they didn't give me one. The bathroom fan ventilation didn't work. The remodel of the bathroom was pathetic. The simply spray painted the tub. The shower curtain was filthy and draped all the way down into the tub so you were essentially standing on it and other people's filth.
