Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Good hostel in a very convenient area of new orleans next to the French quarter. Good area, next to bars and resto. Perfect location for both transports and facilities. Safe area as well.

United StatesNo balconies (central to New Orleans history and architecture), windows don’t open, A/C isn’t powerful enough to keep room cool unless blackout shades are completely closed (therefore no natural light), request for the A/C to be cleaned by maintenance left unmet, no rooftop bar (missed opportunity to mix & mingle), bathrooms have poor ventilation & you’re unable to prop bathroom door open (therefore, bath steam can linger for hours & the possibility of mold is highly possible, BUT no visible or present mold seen), kitchen fridge states it’s cleaned EVERYDAY (that’s a lie, fridge was fully packed and smelled like rotting food), kitchen freezer was the size of a small mini fridge and also packed full and never cleaned out. Alcohol could only be consumed on the first floor and could only be secretly brought up to your room. AND WORST OF ALL, NO DEDICATED ALCOHOL FRIDGE. In fact, no alcohol could be stored in the fridges at all.
Closeness to the French Quarter, staff available til 3AM, full kitchen open 24 hrs, dedicated spaces to do work that’s semi quite, movie room, solely and only personal showers (that are cleaned 4 times a day), movie room, free pool table, staff kept kitchen clean (even though it’s of course everyone’s responsibility to clean up after themselves), washer and dryer on site ($3/each), free luggage storage, mini-market if you’re hungry. Free coffee, hot tea, and ice. Locks are also present on lockers and included for free. Towels, sheets, and pillows are also provide as apart of the stay. Very posh and fine establishment. Lots of foreign guests (non-American, usually German, French, and a few English guests).

United StatesNo onsite parking. Parking was expensive, but that has nothing to the hostel. That's just expected in New Orleans.
So I was initially hesitant about staying in a hostel versus a hotel, but I'm so glad we chose this one in New Orleans! It's perfectly located, within walking distance to all the main attractions like Bourbon Street and Jackson Square, as well as shopping, restaurants, and public transportation. Everything was blocks away, far less than a mile away, very walkable we didn't drive the entire weekend. We parked at the parking garage at the corner. We booked the suite with the queen bed bunk bed. The customer service was excellent – the front desk attendants were very polite and very knowledgeable. We asked like a bazillion question & never a moment of frustration from either of them. The other guests were polite and respectful, creating a welcoming family atmosphere. I felt safe throughout my stay, and the key card access to the rooms and shared spaces added to my peace of mind. One of the highlights was the shared space on the second floor. it's a whole vibe where we could relax and enjoy our own food. The kitchen was well-equipped, spacious with plenty of seating. The laundry facilities were a bonus – just $3 per load, with detergent pods provided. Although I did not see a continental breakfast as advertised (I didn't bother to ask either), we easily grabbed something to eat across the street at the Ruby Slipper. The hostel did offer some snacks and beverages for purchase, and there's even an on-site restaurant (the hours are set, so we didn't get a chance to try it). We had dinner a block down at the Galliers Oyster Bar. The elevator seemed to be a little slower at times, but honestly, I can be very impatient. We got our daily steps in walking up the stairs to the second floor, which was just as quick! Overall, I'm hooked on this hostel and will definitely be back. Everything was as pictured. Very clean, efficient, and reasonably priced.

Germany-> my credit card didn’t work when I wanted to check in (this has never happened before), as I didn’t have cash either this was a bit scary. But after running to the atm and getting cash everything was fine -> the area doesn’t feel super safe (okay for me because it‘s close to all the sights, just something to be aware of)
-> spacious beds -> big, well-equipped kitchen -> central location -> guests have a very social vibe -> very cheap compared to other (HI) hostels in the U.S.

IsraelThe staff was super nice and helpful. I had an incident with another guest that was becoming a bit aggressive and the staff was really useful and kind and helped solve the situation without farther commotion and make sure I'm ok. A special thank you to Vincent in maintenance and Justine at front desk. Great staff in general helped with everything I needed during my stay. Other than that: clean rooms, nice facilities, liked the vibe and common areas, good location.
