Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesOnly downside was I didn't get the meet the staff - they open at 11am and close I guess around 6pm. I was out both days. Parking is on street. No breakfast served (but found a great place locally). No fridge in the room but communal one available down the corridor.
I liked the location - right in the midst of HMB (Half Moon Bay). Loved the attention to detail - good ground coffee, fresh, bottled water, plenty of fans for cooling (room was hot when I arrived). Really nice shampoo, conditioner - lavender based, sourced locally. Accommodated my late arrival easily.

United StatesRug on rim was raggy with rips that snagged my foot. Once brought to their attention, they cut the rug to reduce the risk of injury. The wine we were offered at check-in was disgusting, My Husband and I both threw ours out. Very noisy at night due to loud people on street exiting bar.
Location; kind receptionist

United StatesNo issues at all.
The location was perfect. Access was great. The room was fun and very comfortable with a nice view of the downtown. Room 2 was a corner room and unlike the entry into the guest book we were not visited by a ghost.

United StatesWe stayed in the ADU unit on the bottom floor, unfortunately it smelled very musty and you can’t open the bathroom window because it looks right into the backyard of the restaurant and people eating. In addition a leg to the bed broke at no fault of ours. I’d be interested in seeing what other rooms are like, could be just this one room.
Location is right in the heart of downtown

United KingdomThe walls were very thin! You could clearly hear people in the next room having a conversation and also snoring very loudly, (which kept me awake). The rooms are in need of an update in decor - everything was very tired. They could also be a little bit cleaner, especially the floors.
Quaint, historic hotel. Great location for enjoying all that Half Moon Bay has to offer. The wifi was good and parking was easy - after 6pm you can park overnight on the street outside. The car needs to be moved by 9am and there are plenty of 12 hour bays available round the corner from the hotel. The beach is a short drive away.

United StatesRoom was a little small. However, it was just fine for one or two people, no more.
Room was impeccably clean and nicely appointed. Nice bonuses such as thick robes, freshly ground coffee, fresh water and an extremely comfortable bed. The hotel itself is very charming and the staff that I encountered were very nice. I also liked the availability of a private envelope to leave a secure tip for the housekeeping staff. That’s a very nice touch! Parking was not bad. Parked on a side street with room view of car.

United StatesWe experienced a few glitches - we couldn't cool the room down the first night- which seems incongruous given that HMB is so cool and even damp when the mist rolls in at night. Perhaps it was "operator error" with the thermostat on our part. After turning off the heater completely things and cracking a window the 2nd night was much better.
The Half Moon Bay Inn is right in the heart of town on Main St. Our upstairs room was off the side street at the back of the property. It was pretty quiet there except for occasional muffled sound from an adjacent room. We lucked out with a full retro-style kitchen which looked out over rooftops, the enclosed patio of the "It's Italia" restaurant below and also a bit of green hills in the distance. Based on other recommendations we ate at "It's Italia" our first night there and loved it. HMB is small and very walkable. We walked to nearby restaurants for breakfast and dinner both days. There are lots of options within a 2-3 block radius. We only used our car when driving up the coast to hike. We also did some retail therapy at the numerous artsy shops and contributed to the economy of HMB as best we could. The staff was very accessible by phone/text and responded on 2 separate occasions - going above and beyond the call of duty on at least one of them. The room itself was beautifully decorated in a retro style. I wish we had more than two days to stay and explore the area. Hope to return in the near future.
