Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSeriously one of the best hotels my husband and I have stayed at. We loved all the amenities - breakfast included, candy, water, and ice on each floor, observant and aware staff, and just overall cozy. I appreciated the staffs attention to ensuring only hotel guests were allowed on the property. Made us feel safe.

United StatesThe bathroom door was very difficult to operate. We requested maintenance to come and service it, but it still did not work easily. It is a barn top door and would not roll without great difficulty.
Tom’s, the front desk manager, was exceptional in making us feel welcome at this property. He offered assistance for our activities, etc.

United KingdomValet was not set up well — no parking spaces in front of the hotel and it takes 20mins+ to bring out your car. On the day we left, the guy who brought our car out wasn’t very polite and didn’t even offer us help with the luggage.
Great location, attentive staff, nice breakfast. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and the hotel’s design and set up.

United StatesFrom the time we made our reservation online, it started as a 10 and never went down. This venue is all about people and relationships. We received an email with a personal message asking if there were any special requests? We arrived in town early and texted to ask if we could get into our room several hours early—enthusiastic yes. People were all friendly and helpful—going out of their way to engage us, introducing us to the in-house artist and tell us about the hotel. Breakfast was the BEST we have ever had at any hotel—buffet style with cold and hot options including eggs, two meats, seasoned potatoes and biscuits and gravy, and much more!

AustraliaEverything was beautiful. If I had to mention anything it would be the availability of being able to order room service.
The property is beautiful. The included breakfast in the lobby was very good value as well as the snack station on each floor. Very valuable and enjoyable inclusions.

United StatesThey should contract with a different parking company -- $65/night for a valet-parked car is robbery. We pay less in New York City! The neighborhood appears to be struggling to come back after Covid; the Granger's presence will probably help upgrade that area. Although it's an easy 20-minute walk to the harbor from the hotel (flat terrain), the property is not located in a good "let's stroll around the neighborhood" part of town. Go south on Fifth Avenue and you'll see pawn shops, "Checks cashed here" places, bail bond offices, smoke shops, and bars -- oh-so-many bars. Also some delicious-looking restaurants. Go north on Fifth Avenue and by the time you reach the I-5, you'll want to turn around. There's a struggle going on in that neighborhood between poor-and-somewhat-seedy and trying-to-clean-things-up. You need a hotel key card to gain access to the lobby. Unfortunately, the bellman was on break when we arrived, and there was no way to get in to ask for help! We always felt safe, and we'd stay there again, but just know that the location isn't touristy -- it's urban.
Although the room was on the small side, they made good use of the space. We were comfortable. The bathroom was particularly nice -- good water pressure in the shower, nice skincare products by Le Labo. We wish they could have found a way *not* to use the sliding barn door-style bathroom door, however -- those do not afford sufficient privacy in our opinion. The window to the street was large (advantage of a historic building), and they chose lovely window treatments for it. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the complimentary welcome drink on arrival day was also a nice touch. The free Wi-Fi worked fine. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The lobby and public spaces have been *designed* -- it's a thoughtfully hip and chic place.

United StatesWe just wished the doors would shut a little softer in the rooms. They would shut behind us pretty hard and felt as though it would hit you if you're not careful. The room was quite small but we only stayed for the night so it met our expectations.
We enjoyed the complimentary coffees, snacks, and breakfast. Along with how pleasant all of the staff was throughout the hotel.

IranThe room was compact yet efficiently designed, making excellent use of the available space to include everything promised in the amenities list. I especially appreciated the convenience of the refreshment stations on each floor, offering a variety of coffee options, nuts, snacks, ice, and water—easily accessible at any time. Service was excellent, with consistently friendly and welcoming staff. Breakfast was diverse, high-quality, and well-presented. The location was also ideal, making it a very pleasant stay overall.

United StatesWhen you arrive at the hotel, they do not have a clear area to park your vehicle while checking in. They say to leave your vehicle on the street in a 20 minute commercial spot and just leave your keys with them in case they need to move it. That’s before checking in. Makes you feel like someone will just take off with your car when you walk in. There are a lot of homeless street-people hanging out near the front door. The valet service was $65 and they required us to sign a waiver that they would not be responsible if our car was broken into during our stay. We have stayed in the Gaslamp area many times in other hotels and never had to sign a waiver to valet our vehicle. This made us feel very uncomfortable thinking it was a usual occurrence that cars were broken into….for the price they charge, they should offer that your vehicle will be safe. When asked, they said the parking structure is 3 blocks away. So we started our stay with uneasiness and worry.
Friendly staff, welcome cocktail drink, nice clean room, comfy bed, nice shower, bright room, yummy breakfast with eggs/bacon/berries/tater-tots/French toast/etc, artist studio-gallery on site, fun snacks complimentary, comfy seating area near front desk, and doorman to let you in at any hour of the night.
