Hard to say. We like slightly firm mattress and ours was on the soft size.

Location for sure. The rooms and property are kept in beautiful presentations. There is art in and around the rooms, which are tastefully appointed. The breakfasts are, a beautiful work of art. The presentation is as if it’s a 5 star hotel. Plus the food is inventive and delicious. The coffee was just right; piping hot, well balanced and delicious.

The location is directly off a main road and there can be some traffic noise during the day, however, there is virtually no traffic noise at night for a restful sleep.

The property has lovely gardens and is beautifully maintained. The location and an assigned parking space made our stay super convenient. Management was so welcoming and always available. We were upgraded to a larger room upon arrival, the Castella, which is the size of large apartment with living space, a fireplace, kitchen, dining area, comfy king bed, reading nook, and whirlpool bath in the shower! There is also a private patio with a fountain and patio furniture for relaxing. A bottle of sparkling wine, cheese and crackers, and chocolates were compliments of the house. We enjoyed a full, delicious, homemade breakfast cooked on site and served hot each morning. We appreciated all the amenities provided daily including little tasty treats left for us after the room was freshened up every day. We highly recommend this B&B and are looking forward to our return in the Fall Harvest season!

Just minutes from town, wineries, hiking trails and amazing restaurants, our stay in the charming cottage was absolute perfection. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, cozy nooks, fluffy towels, and luxurious bedding, every detail was thoughtfully curated to make us feel welcome. Each morning, we were treated to a home-cooked, delicious breakfast delivered right to our door. The hosts regularly left thoughtful treats - including wine and ample tea. They were incredibly kind and accommodating - treating us like family. This was, without a doubt, my favorite B&B experience ever.

We can't find anything that we didn't like (and we have traveled a lot all over the world during our 35 years together).

We entered our room and were blown away by the size, furnishings, and warmth it exuded. The breakfast was awesome. When Lynn told us the "basket" would be delivered at the appointed time, we thought the breakfast was going to be "continental" - a few muffins, single serve yogurt, and coffee or tea. What we received was personally prepared by Lynn, over the top and delicious. We enjoyed it in our enormous (but cozy) king room with a private patio and a cornucopia of personal care products and snacks. Of course, we are planning to visit again next year.

My wife and I stayed at the cottage unit and it was wonderful. Spacious, very tastefully decorated, super clean with nice amenities and even a good size kitchen. Location is excellent just minutes from the center of Calistoga. Breakfast was top notch delivered to the room every morning with a wonderful variety and absolutely delicious. Every evening, we got little treats such as nuts or chocolate. The hosts, Lynn & Gregg, were very nice and helpful and gave us good recommendations for wineries to visit in the area. They are a very pleasant and wonderful couple. They made our stay memorable.

Wouldn't change a thing!

We can't say enough about Foothil House. From the moment we were warmly greeted by Greg to our checkout, everything was wonderful. The attention to detail in the room, meals, amenities and service were amazing. We have stayed at many B & B's, but this one far exceeded our expectations!

This is pretty nitpicky but the water pressure in the shower was pretty poor and the wifi signal was really bad. The former was not a big deal and the latter just forced us to be more present instead of on our devices so I don’t see either one as a major issue.

Breakfast was better than we ever could have expected. The cottage was clean with a very comfortable bed. We didn’t take advantage of it but having a washer/dryer and full kitchen were an unexpected bonus.

The location seemed quiet, but the road traffic was still audible. It did not bother me much, but my better half said that he heard the big trucks in the middle of the night because everything else is super quiet.

Although it seemed like small portions because they were served in individual-serving containers, but after finishing the food, it satisfied until mid-afternoon. The variety of food was good. It was very tasty. Looking back, I should have asked for more fruit and less baked sweets. You can discuss your preferences with the hosts and I'm sure they will accomodate.

Nothing. If we could bring this room with us to every place we traveled, we would.

The room was incredible. Every time my partner or I thought of something it seemed to be right where we would have put it in our own home, candles, lighter, remotes, throws. The room and walk in closet were amazing. Showering felt like you were outside it front of the waterfall but with no insects and in the heat. Oh, and the fireplace that was between the living area and the bathroom - such ambiance. I intentionally didn't lead this review with the breakfast, but I can't complete the review without giving it a mention. The breakfasts (we had two) were both incredible - and different from one another. Also, the bottle of champagne on ice when we checked into the room and nightly chocolates and snacks. I can't give higher marks than those for this property. Just the right touch on knowing we could ask for any local insight and privacy. Thank you Lynne and Greg.

Not a single thing I can think of fell below my expectations

The property is incredible, with many mature trees and other ground scape. There are private outdoor seating areas at the rooms and also a gazebo in the garden area. Very well-kept surroundings and like a small oasis just off the road. The Chateau room that we had was incredible. Very spacious and clean. Super comfortable bed and even a partial kitchen( no oven) . The breakfast delivered to your door was beyond anything I could have expected. Home cooked onsite by the owners and dropped off in a very well put together basket at your requested time.
