How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I apologize for the door locking situation and am sure we had it repaired quickly. The smell from the shower is something extremely unusual, and there must have unfortunately been a back up. We hope you will consider us again, and thank you for trying us.

Limited parking. This time of year if you moved your car it took a stroke of luck to find one on the street.
Parking can be challenging in the summer months, but we do always offer complimentary parking at our two sister properties. We do thank you for choosing to stay with us and we look forward to your next stay with us.

When I arrived there was a sign on the reception door saying the reception was closed and you have to check in at a different address, so I had to walk with all my bags to this to check in which really wasn’t a nice arrival. There was no advance notice of this otherwise I would of got the Uber to the other address. Also the ceiling is really poorly sound proofed and I could hear all the foot steps from the room above which meant I slept really bad and it ruined the overall stay
We do apologize for the check-in procedure, but it is located on the site. We know it's inconvenient, and so we are very sorry it was difficult. Sometimes the noise from the rooms above can be noticed especially if the guests are up late into the night or very early. We are renovating in September and hopefully the newer carpet will help dampen the potential noise. Thank you for staying with us.

Lots of Collage Kids!!!!! Lots of people walking around your windows if your on the side. Also the parking is only by luck and i tell you what. we somehow got lucky when we were there.
We are at the tail end of Spring Break and there will be a short lull before the summer season starts at the beach this year. We do offer parking at the check-in location and our other sister property with no fee for our Diamond Head Inn guests. We are very sorry about the issue you mentioned and are getting ready to renew the entire interior in September. 1-Microwave was working but not heating anything. 2-There was no Ice maker in the building. 3- the phone in the room was a joke. It did not connect to anyone.
Thank you for your comments. I am not sure about any microwave not functioning, and the phone system is fairly new but has the calls transferred to our front desk where the check-in is located. Unfortunately, the ice machine is located at the check-in location and we do apologize for the inconvenience. We do thank you for trying us and hope you will consider us again.

The Hotel itself worn out. We had to check in at an adjacent hotel and it was not clear nor friendly how to get what we needed. For example we were a party of 4 - there were 3 forks, 3 cups. 3 plates. Altho the kitchen had a sink, microwave & stove top there wasn't a sponge or a tea towel. There was an outside space but it was communal and there was but one outdoor chair. Would not recommend nor go back.
We would like to thank you for trying us. We have tried to make the check-in as quick and efficient as possible considering the location of this. As always, we are always happy to supply anything you need for your guest room, we only ask that you let us know. There are two rooms with balconies with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean which make a considerable difference in the whole guest experience and perhaps that could be considered after we renovate this year. Once again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience, but hope you were able to enjoy your vacation.

No where in the conformation emails or when I called to confirm the reservation did anyone mention that you have to walk 3 blocks over to the sister location to check in lugging your luggage back and forth

Staff when we checked in made a comment how we overpaid because we used booking.com said we could have saved almost half if we booked through them. Left a bad taste in my mouth… no housekeeping, we only had 2 towels in our room to use. Parking is horrible good luck getting a spot there’s about 2 available for the whole hotel. This stressed us out. Our tv didn’t work. You can hear everything, people talking outside stomping above. My husband and I felt like we just had to suck it up to get through the weekend
I really apologize for the issues you had while staying with us. I do hope they were all resolved after you informed us of the issues. I do think the staff was just trying to get you to book with us directly the next time to be able to offer you a return rate. Thank you for choosing to try us. We do thank you for trying us. Parking has been something that we have found to be somewhat challenging for first-time guests when the beach area is busy and full of beachgoers. We always offer complimentary parking at both of our sister properties. This property was just renovated two years ago and there are many plans to make the inside look as great as the exterior later this year. We do know the check-in is different, but it's something we see happening for the upcoming future. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but hope you will give us another try.
