How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The beds were clean, but thin, so more comfortable beds would be nice. The TV is small (not really a big deal). the room had a bit of a musty smell (kinda like it had been hotel cleaned, if that makes sense) so not really bad either but I noticed and immediately wished I had brought a scented candle or room spray.
The location was perfect, within minutes of all we needed for the weekend - close to soccer fields, the beach and food venues we wanted to go to. The room was simple, but clean. All we needed was a place to refresh and sleep. It is quiet, even being by the freeway. Easy check in and check out. No frills hotel close to all we needed in Carlsbad.

They advertise breakfast, but have no breakfast just put out coffee and a nasty bread with chocolate and told us that was breakfast. Traveling with kids you expect a continental breakfast very disappointing

The free breakfast was coffee and a hard chocolate croissant. For the price we paid, breakfast should include more.

We were expecting queen beds and they were full so it was a bit tight but in general we were very happy. We had many bugs come out of the light fixture two nights out of our five night stay.
The staff was quiet but friendly. The bathroom is big compared to the next hotel we stayed in. The pool is EXTREMELY small but it worked out so we had it to ourselves almost every time we went swimming. I lived the layout of the building.

Bedding was very thin, I had to request extra blankets. "Breakfast" was really lacking, the only option was a chocolate croissant that looked more like a twinkie and was not good.

Bed/linens could’ve been more comfortable. Location next to the train tracks wasn’t exactly the most charming.

The breakfast is not breakfast at all. Was disappointed in this. Was hoping for at least a little variety as far as a muffin, pastry. But it was one choclate pastry thing.
Loved the little pool. The suite we had was huge. Way bigger than I was expecting. Good location too. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Please do not call this a breakfast. All there is for breakfast is a bag sealed piece of pastry that is not even good for you. I would love to see a fresh bagel instead. Please make a better effort to provide a decent breakfast.

Ads says breakfast included but there was only coffee and juice and ONE chocolate filled pastry. This is not breakfast included not even continental breakfast. Even a few fresh fruit and instant oatmeal would be better than what was offered
