Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaThe shower didn’t have a curtain, so the bathroom floor would get quite wet after each shower. Room cleaning is only provided every three days, and additional cleanings come at an extra cost. The room itself was quite small, but since it was well laid out, it wasn’t a major issue for us. The bed was quite narrow.
Convenient location, though that area in Manhattan can get quite crowded with both locals and tourists. The staff was very friendly, and the room had a well-thought-out layout, which made the stay comfortable.

SpainThe size of the room, the A/C was centralized so I had to call everytime I wanted to get a less cooler room. That was awkward. Also the bathroom has some moss in the pipes so it looks awful sometimes. It’s so small the room that you should forget about a mini cooler or any sort of welcome drink (not even water). They DON’T clean the rooms daily (just once every 3 days) based on some fake environmental benefit. That was bad. Maybe once every 2 days could have been good.
Super good location to move around manhattan.

United StatesThere can be moments where you're waiting for the elevators to arrive due to the number of guests in the hotel.
The room was beautifully styled and decorated. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is sizable. We appreciated the fillable water station on our floor and complimentary coffee on the 2nd floor.

AustraliaRoom was in an amazing location- so close to Broadway and Times Square, as well as subway stops. Despite being so close to the city the room was very quiet. Also, despite being small it is Greta for one person and has heaps of storage nooks built in. The staff was amazing- I got sick while there and they were so accommodating- bringing food up to my room and checking whether I was OK or needed anything.

GermanyAgain, I did take the smallest room type at the property so there was mo wardrobe in the room. There was enough space to store your suitcase under the bed and there was one drawer you could fill up with your clothes. If you are ok with that, then, you ll be fine ! ( I was ! ) The hotel has 3 elevators which can get very busy due to the Rooftop Bar at night.
The look and feel of the hotel is really great. The Decor looks just done, fresh, original and cool. I took the smallest room type they offer and, honestly, I felt it was enough. The Bathroom was beautifully done with great taste and decent room. There are double Shades in the room which are controllable digitally, the AC worked just fine and there a safe and a steamer in the room, too. Good insolation, too, taking into account that I was on the 19th floor and there is a Rooftop bar on the 27th. Great views of the city from the room :) The location is simply great if you are looking to stay in Midtown. I was 2 blocks away from Times Square, surrounded by restaurants and Delis.

My favourite hotel I have stayed in NYC, amazing Hell’s Kitchen location - walkable/subway to everywhere, we got in late so walked to the stardust diner and were local to shows. As a theatre lover this was such a fun hotel to stay in and a gorgeous rooftop - will be staying here when I return to New York

FinlandThe room where we stayed was pleasant and clean. The only downside; it was a bit small. However, that did not affect our stay significantly and we will consider booking the same room next time we visit New York. The hotel is located in the heart of Manhattan, making it easy to travel anywhere you may want to go. Broadway and Times Square are right around the corner. The hotel is also next to Emmy Squared, a restaurant serving great burgers and Detroit-style pizza.

United StatesWhile we appreciated the hydration station near the elevators on each floor, we missed having a small refrigerator.
The Civilian was a perfect base for our week on Broadway. You can walk to any theater in 10 minutes and since most of them are between 8th and 7th Avenues, you don’t have to deal with the crowds at Time Square unless you want to. Lots of restaurant choices nearby. The hotel is well-kept and our room was very comfortable.
